Welcome to my summer of 2013 grow. As the title states, I’ve got some outdoors and the usual indoor going. This grow started many wks ago and I’ll cover it from the start.

This is the 1st grow I’ve documented, after 3yrs as a member I thought it was time.

Outdoors, I’ve got 3 auto fems (2 “G-13 Lab” Pineapple Express, & 1 “Sweet Seeds” Green Poison). All started from seed in 3.5gal hempy buckets.

Indoors, It’s the regulars,,,, 5 “Grand Daddy” Bay-11 that are in 2gal hempy buckets, and 3 Maui Thunder’s It’s a personal X (Maui Wowie & Big Island Thunder) These are currently in 2qt’s of soil, mainly looking for a mother.

I plan on making some seeds along the way this summer, maybe even a backcross with the Maui-Thunder.

Now my growing method is different than most. I’m not going to say it’s the best, but I generally achieve better than average results. I use this system because it’s simple, easy, low maintenance, & inexpensive. So you can watch if you want, and decide for yourself.

I start all my seeds / clones in soil, and will transplant a soil core into a hempy bucket, the core can be as small a 2” seed starter like the Bay-ll or as large as 2 1/2qts like the MT will be.

All the buckets are a mixed coco (coir, pith, & chips) cut with about 25% perlite

For nutrients this run, I’m using Osmocote Plus a Controlled Release Fertilizer (CRF) I’ve been using CRF’s for the past 3 yrs so this isn’t a new experiment. I mix it into the medium above the drain hole, at a rate of 1 ½ to 2 tbsp per gal of container size. (2gal buckets got 4 tbsp & the 3.5gal got 5.5 tbsp). I’m gonna have to start using Dynamite, because Scott’s has discontinued OC+ (still have over 5lbs)

I mix 50/50 my tap and RO water. Adjust ph to 6.0
Adding:
5ml/gal cal mag
8 drops / gal Floralicious Plus
3 drops / gal Superthrive (only in veg)

Indoors 4x4 grow area, under a single large hood with 2 – 400w CMH bulbs. Started venting it for the 1st time a couple of wks ago.

Now for the Pic’s. When I mention age by day it is from the day I put the seed in the soil
The Seeds…. Planted Bay 11 & Maui Thunder seeds 4/25. The 3 pots grouped together in the back are the MT

Maui Thunder New Pheno – Note the leaf structure of the middle soil dweller, all other MT I’ve grown looked like the other 2, I sure hope it’s a girl, so I can clone and grow out to sample, if its good then I’ll start popping seeds looking for a matching male

After Topping

5/28 Starting the Autos. This is the first time I’ve ever tried to grow an auto. From what I’ve read it’s best to start in the final bucket. So I hollowed out the center of the coco mix buckets and filled with soil and planted. The 1st photo is hopefully the most boring I will post.

Autos Day 4 all three have sprouted In order Pineapple Express 1 then 2 & Green Poison

It’s also Day 45 for the Regulars, Group photo with the autos, all have been under the big light for the past couple of days, Now I just need the autos to kick it in the butt so I can put them outside and flip to 12/12 inside.

6/15 Day 51 Regs and Day 18 Autos.
Watering so far; Autos at d11 ran a couple of cups of RO through the soil core, day 13 watered 1gal each standard water, even though they really didn’t need it.
Regs have been watered 3 times since transplant, last watering on day 47 and I added just a tiny pinch / gal of Adv Nutes Tarantula & Piranha, to help the roots. I saw a noticeable difference in just 1 ½ days. They’ll get one more treatment in a couple of wks.

Busy day today, trimmed off the lower branches on the Bay 11’s, and started 2 clones from each of the 5 plants. After lights all night for the autos they got another 12 hr dose of sunshine. They will never see the grow room again. I turned the lights out on the regs inside and they’ll get 33hrs dark then start 11.5/12.5

6/16 - Day 0 11.5/12.5 The lights just came on. Notice the lime green new growth, I’m sure it has to do with the extended dark period. All that new growth without any light.

Subbed up Watt's! Can't wait to see your Bay-11 in your cool climate...bet it's a purdy strain there.. I'd be interested too in seeing your opinion of the PE when you give the smoke report...I still hear voices when I smoke that stuff....keeps me out of public for sure (LOL). Your bucket sizes are right down my alley too. Here's best of luck to this one my hempy brother!

Welcome aboard jella. I'm thinking that this auto PE will be knocked down a notch from the reg or fem, just because of the ruderalis. But then again who knows. I'll be sure to report the finish.

Yes anyone can join WC, welcome. I'm gonna try to keep the info complete and current.

Now the regulars indoors. So after looking at the plants (girls) this morning, I noticed that after popping 5 Bay-11 seeds I have 5 females, so I bought a lottery ticket, most likely a bad idea since I already won the lottery. There was one male this morning, a Maui Thunder, and it was the one that was a different pheno, and I don't want to use it for a back cross, I was really hoping for a female to see what the different pheno had to offer. So I have a MT to put back in veg and an extra which I either have to give away, KILL, or send outdoors. Just don't know if it will stay in flower with the amount of hrs of day light at this time of the yr. I'll investigate.

A few shots 7 days after the flip.

Looks like a bunch of girls to me, so I'll have to cull one of the Bay-11's because there's just not room for 5.

(Wrote most of this up yesterday, computer got hot had to shut it down)

Time for an update.

6/27; Day 30 for Autos, and day 10 after flip for the Indoor crew. All plants received their last dose of root bacteria. So no further additives until P-K time in about 3wks
I reduced the indoor gang yesterday. The 2 Maui Thunders had really started to stretch and I didn't want to butcher one to make a mom, so I gave them a good new home, and they will grow outdoors at 7600ft.

That leaves 5 - 2gal Bay 11 buckets indoors, in a wk maybe 2 I'll have to put one of these out on the deck, don't want to run more than 4 in the space. I've already picked out the volunteer and won't trim her up any more. Flash photos during lights out.
13-06-27_d10_Fl_B11 004.jpg13-06-27_d10_Fl_B11 005.jpg13-06-27_d10_Fl_B11 006.jpg13-06-27_d10_Fl_B11 007.jpg13-06-27_d10_Fl_B11 008.jpg

Here's the clones, 4 had visible root 12hrs ago to me it looks like all are going to take. So with the 5 for 5 female in the seeds I now have 10 1st gen seed clones, I guess there will be more gifts.
13-06-27_d10_Fl_B11 009.jpg

(Update to update, today they all had roots and taped the clear cups to keep the light out)

Autos are just growin'. They've got some pre-flowers, so I'm thinking they are on track. They seem to be handling the 40-50 degree temp swing every day. After these buckets dry down I may just water in small amounts to moisten the coco, instead of the full 1 1/2gal fill for good run-off. These autos seem to grow best if the coco is half dry. In same order PE-1, PE-2, & GP
13-06-27_d30_Autos 001.jpg13-06-27_d30_Autos 002.jpg13-06-27_d30_Autos 003.jpg13-06-27_d30_Autos 004.jpg13-06-27_d30_Autos 005.jpg

The dots on the leafs is dust, It's been so dry here that I sprayed the plants at sunrise, and the dust pooled out in little dots.

Well had my 1st real problem with the autos. PE-2 has started to fall over, I'm not sure if it is some sort of rot, or if the wind, which has been gusting the past few days snapped her. I pulled the soil in the core back to take a look. Other than the obvious the plant is very healthy looking. I installed a support just high enough to take the load off the joint. I have a feeling she will heal and move forward.

This morning at sunrise I checked out PE-2 and it had lifted itself off of the brace,
13-07-02_d35_Autos 007riu.jpg

This afternoon when I got home from work she was laying on the brace again. I noticed that the breeze was lifting her off the brace using the leaves as a kite, so I turned her around and seems to be resting better, I might just tie her down in this position and call it a LST.

I do that to stems of plants (super cropping) that get to high for the tent, they lift right back up and form a knuckle where the stem cracked.....makes it hard and rigid for holding big colas.

Watt great so far, how do u keep the females from being pollinated outside?
Well if there isn't a male growing in one of the neighbor's backyard, there shouldn't be a problem. Out of the 8 reg seeds I started I only had one male and he was trashed long before any sacks were mature enough to pop.

Update 7/7 Day 20 for the Bay-11 indoors. Well I'm hoping that the sativa stretch is close to being done. Heat has been an issue also, It's staying below 90 but it's over 85 at least 6hrs a day in my room. I know its a boring grow using OC, a person can get bored just watching green plants grow.

Autos outside Day 40, so I'm guessing I'm close to 1/2 way. PE-1 is 21" tall and I'm thinking that she won't get much taller. They look green and healthy, so I'm assuming they're doing okay. To me they look just like an MJ plant just much smaller. I know the next auto attempt will be in a much smaller bucket. I watered them lightly today, split a gallon between them. They have had a couple light rain showers this week also.

Today was also transplant the clones day. Along with the 8 bay-11's I've got a couple of Maui-Wowie cutting back again, I'll mother one and I'll give one to my son. I got a NL cutting from my friend also.
