I am using miracle grow dirt it works for me my plants a flourishing. To each his own on dirt everyone has a biased opinion I say it works 5000 others will say no its bad. Do what you feel is okay learn from your mistakes you can really only learn 1 way and that's doing it yourself I learned 99% of what I know by trial and error if you got any other ?s feel free to ask
that is true... i use to just use 3 month release and a tropical plant mix soil

now i use it in my first and final transplant mixed with MG perlite, tropical plant mix and a little bit of Hyponex (same company that owns MG)...

also i stopped using it for my seedlings... i now use Hyponex and tropical plant mix for the germinated seeds and seedlings...

figured this out after many errors... and i'm loving it

I just did a quick skim over this thread.... I would like to point out 1 key thing to do if using MG

Do not fert until flower... when in flower do a 1/4 strenghth on week 2

do a 3/4 strength on week 4

do a 2/4 strenght on week 6

just repeat that...

when you start to see buds add molassis..

This is the important part...

WHEN FLUSHING WITH MG

you have to do an emergency flush with mg potting mix... when your trichs are just how you want them, cut the base of the plant and put it the main stem in a jar of water.. plane water... give it light and time,,, about 3 to 4 days should flush the nutes out of the plant.... dont forget to take her out of the water...

you have to do it this way because there are nutes in the soil that makes normal flushing impossible... im sure this is why all your buds taste like shit.... try it this way next time. PEACE

i don't pour water into the containers to wait days for it to dry anymore.... when they're seedlings or just germinated and planted into the soil, i'll spray with a mist using a spray bottle, 5 squirts, twice a day... until they're transplanted from cups to something like the size of 16 oz container, thats around the 2nd week.... then i'll start using 20 squirts or more, depending on size and how much the plant needs... this slows down the roots from reaching the bottom, which caused a problem for me before, because i had to transplant earlier then i wanted to... so every 12 hours, you're basically wetting the top of the soil instead of pouring water to wet the entire soil... and by spraying it evenly spreads out the roots...you'll notice when its time to spray again, the soil is dry, if its not, you're squirting more then you're suppose to... but other people like pouring water into their soil, so it depends on you

crackers,

Guessing you might be still learning how to open a thread, so reusing this old one?
Anyhow, the MG preferted soils(these are MG potting soil or MG moisture control) can be quite tricky. They can kill/cook your plants. My 1st grow used MGMC, crashed and died. Using MG organic now, and results are great so far. Preferted soils are dangerous, I found organic much easier.

look at my grow journal. I am using MG Potting and getting good results. I water once a week between 32 and 64oz as full plants. None of my plants cooked but I got 3 males and 2 girls as you will see.

If you read my journal, you can see my watering and how they all grew.

Good luck either way.

Miracle Grow is not OK if you are wanting organically grown weed.

Miracle Grow contains man made chemicals whereas mixes such as Fox Farms does not.

This is the way I see it. If it is going in your lungs, would you rather have man made chemicals in your soil our organic and natural substances ?
Roots absorb water and nutrients through a process called diffusion. Diffusion takes place at the Ionic level. This means that nutritional elements are passed by the electrical exchange of charged particles.

The BOTTOM line is that roots can only uptake pure elements no matter what the original source is. Plants can't absorb organic materials or Non Organic material unless it is first broken down into pure elements..

This means, that whether it is chemical or organic........ it makes no difference...You will not have chemicals in your lungs if you use chemical nutes instead of organic...lol

You should learn to read more before you go giving advice and posting on a forum..

im using mg organic right now. the only problem im seeing now is that it has terrible drainage. if you do end up buying it i would highly suggest getting some perlite or something of that ilk to help out with drainage and to aerate the soil.

im not reading this whole thread way to high but miracle grow will work just fine, Ive grown with both it and Fox Farm soil and see little difference. Time released nutes can burn ur plants while they're small but only if you are overwatering.. Get the stuff called moisture control. It works the best. Do NOT buy organic choice it has bugs in it..

Glad someone else noticed this. I had to chuckle at the manmade vs organic theory. Gotta love it when mother nature drops off HID lighting, powered exhaust fans, mylar, white paint, and a plastic bucket so we can add ORGANIC nutes and do this the way she intended!

miracle grow works very good!!!
this is the top soil that i have used for the past 2 years.i've tryed other soil but the growth rate in miracle grow is so much better. i know this for a fact because ive experienced it first hand more than just once or twice.i root my clones in rockwool and then put them in coffee cups filled with miracle grow. they shoot up like crazy. then move them to bigger pots. In the veg period for all my plants i don't fed them veg nutes because the soil already has so much that you don't want to burn the plants. when i decide to flower i start my flower(big bud) nutes after the first week of flower.

MIRACLE GROW IS VERY GOOD ONCE YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING!!

P.s. believe me ive had some HUGE results.

pic- one of my vegging plants in miracle grow hasn't had any nutes just ones from soil.

I'm using MG moisture control for my two Hindu Skunk girls, and they are thriving. I have not added any nutes and was only watering once a week until about a week ago. It's been rainy and chilly here until a week or so ago....I don't know if it's because it warmed up or the girls are bigger, but I water every 3-4 days now. (I have a cheap moisture meter, and I water when it gets to the moist side of dry, plus I use my finger to double-check) I'm a noob grower, and my main focus has been to try to leave em alone...but man are they fun to watch. They grow like, well....weeds. :weed:

Heyo, I'm new to this thread and am in need of advice. This is my first grow and i literally took a hand full of seeds and threw them in some MG potting mix. I had 19 plants sprout and after the neighborhood stoner squirrel was done with them i'm left with 12 plants ranging from about 4 to 7 inches tall. Most are in individual pots in my garage about 4Ft under 8 6500K Daylight florescent bulbs. (2 4ft fixtures, 4 bulbs each) I've started a 14L/10D light schedule for now. I water about twice a week, no nutes, and i've added a constant fan to the room to keep air moving.

I know from reading around that MG isn't the best but it works. PLEASE any suggestions would be helpful. I'm not exactly looking to grow super skunk here, i'd be happy with some nice mids.

I did not like the ending result of the way it reacted at flush time. Do not feed them at all and only give them one shot of superbloom when they are ready to flower. Otherwise you get some wicked build up of nutes in that soil as when you go to flush it really reacts weird with the buffers and the PH. Next time grab the cheaper stuff tastes better.

im an outdoor grower ive been using MG on a few of my plants mainly as just an experiment but that shit is definitely working way above my expectations. ive been using it once a week for almost 8 weeks and my plants are just about a foot taller than my other plants that arent on the MG. im probably gonna keep using it on some plants except switch to organic
