Mine-lining or manifolding without removing leaves

Hi guys
I am thinking to mine-line my next run but without removing any fan leaves, only remove growing tips. So I wonder if anybody has already try this so he could give some feedbacks. The strain with which I want to try is a 100% sativa, Desfrán from Dutch Passion, she is normally a huge plant, and I am thinking to mine-line to 64 in an area of 4 Sqf, so every cola will have a 3x3 inch space, I know that mine-lining to 64 will give short colas, but I want to make it like a horizontal flower layer, something that could be called SCROF Screen of flower. Or maybe make only 32 everyone in a 4x4 inch space. Any thoughts?

That should be ok, but you'll have to pick off the axillary buds (the little growth buds between the top of the leaf petiole and the stem it's attached to).

I probably wouldn't do it tho, because the wide canopy will block out most of the light that those fan leaves would absorb, and also because you want good airflow under the canopy to prevent the growth of anything from mold to bug infestations.

Yes of course, I will pick off all other buds than the new mains every time I main line. But after finishing all the main lining, any axillary buds that could appear above the last cut, i.e. within the definitive colas, I will leave them because thay are part of the cola itself. I didn’t get what you meant about not doing it, did you mean not to go through 64 colas or not to leave the leaves?

I meant not leaving the bottom fan leaves. You CAN, but I don't think they will be of much benefit. Mainlining to 64 should be pretty awesome, but you'll need a big pot to support such a big plant.

Thanks for the advice, I am planning to grow her in a 30L AirPot in an organic environment under a LED of 316W real consumption
Hope to start in September after my travel
I will supply photos and comments

It'll work. I've done it. Just pluck them out. Going for 64 is one hell of an endeavor. It should fill up that space though. The problem with going for 64 is that a lot of times the plant will start alternating nodes before you can get to that point. It's the luck of the draw with the plant. I topped one last year for 64 outdoors. The rest started alternating before then.

the one who responded to 64 was what in Sativa/Indica ratio?

If you want specifics it was Kush Bomb from Bomb seeds. That particular plant actually shown more Sativa traits than its sisters. Taller than the rest by far. But the branches were thick and bulky. Her stems and cutting's stems kept a red/purple hue to them no matter what I did. I just pretty much figured it was a pheno thing after that. Her colors were pretty cool.

Do you have some pictures of that lady with 64 heads? I wander what she looked like

Much wider than the pot she was in. Was using gardening wire and small pliable plastic stakes in the ground to hold branches down. And I don't take photos man. Hell I don't even take my phone out to my spots. I could actually see the police here putting resources into anything that might get them a headline. Even in the local paper. Not to mention legal fees. Hell getting your phones GPS coordinates over the last month is nothing but a talk with the higher ups to get a bullshit "reasonable suspicion" warrant. Then faxing that over to your provider. Takes about an hour total. That info is strait from a buddy who works for a leading cellular provider in their legal department.
Wish I could but that's just kinda asking for it in my neck of the woods. Especially since spiteful exes are spiteful. And haters are gonna hate.
I don't grow dope. I just lie about it on internet forums in reality.
On a side note I wouldn't even attemp to do it outdoors again. Not with a summer long veg time anyways. Once you get to the point where your plants are topped to their maximum capacity and keeping the apical dominance equal then you're left with them growing several feet. Then dealing with building loads of support during flower. When you have 16 tops and the branches themselves have a good 2 or 3 months veg then you end up with 5-6 foot branches to deal with. Mainlinining indoors is easy. You control the flowering date. You'd be better off topping it out to 16 and then LSTing those branches outwards. Hell that's how Nuggbuckets experimented with and developed this particular technique in the first place. To make better use of his vertical space. Or maximize it anyways and keep an even canopy. There's no vertical space limits outdoors.
It CAN be done. But there's other ways to make better use of your plants veg time.

I always take photos with a normal camera not a phone, because just I like that big camera lol, ah and my phone is not an android nor an iphone because I dont trust these company, they sell your information for commercial or spy purpose, my phone is a FireFox OS, I dont trust them 100% but sure trust them more than Google and Mac, and my GPS is only on when I need it then I put it off. Not that I am paranoiac but just dont like the sensation that something is watching me. Any way, here in Chile they will legalize the cannabis this year only for personal use up to 6 plants in one house and one will be able to transfer with him up to 10gm of marijuana, still cant smoke in the street. I just imagine the police man having a digital balance with him in the street, stopping me and saying “Señor, you have 10.5 gm in your pocket, you have to go to jail”, and me responding “No, Señor Policia, there is a stem inside the bud, we remove it and then you see it is now 8.5gm” LOL

Any way, returning back to our subject, do you remember how many days it took from the day you put the seed in the soil until the day you did the 6th top (you did not remove leaves, did you? so it should be faster to recover each time you top). And that specific day when you did the 6th top, do you remember how tall was the lady? did you attached the branches down every time you doubled your colas? I am planning to attach them down at 2, 4, 8 and 16, but leave them free at 32 and 64.

A combination of Main Lining and Super Cropping would work but it will not be equally energy distributed. When you bend a sativa branch into horizontal after 16 main lining, each horizontal cola will still give several vertical colas and these new colas will not be energy equal between them, the result is still good because you already did a 16 equal mother colas, but not perfect, maybe with an indica 16 is enough. I want to experiment the 64, and anyway my lady will be 100% sativa because I am a sativa effect fanatico.

my only thought is why?
I would just clone that girl and go with like 4 smaller plants.
in order to train it to 64 colas you're gonna have to vege it FOREVER...
in a 4x4 i'd go with four manifolded plants, or 6-8 single cola plants
just me though

It is 4SqF 2x2, not 4x4
I agree that 64 colas in a 2x2 space is crowded, but then this will cut the veg time because I will not need to wait long between manifolding because I will do the 1st, 2nd and 3rd top each at the 3rd node, then the 4th, 5th and 6th top each at the 1st node. My idea is to try something new that could be called Screen of Flowers, a horizontal layer of flowers all connected together, like a lasagne (:

ahh, I gotcha. a 2x2..
still though, it doesn't work quite like that, it's not immediately after you see the beginnings of growth that you switch, the idea of SCROG or even the variation you are trying is allowing the plant to establish each area and "thinking" each of them is the main cola, growth hormones are made in the plant with whatever the part of the plant getting the most light, so you need to allow the plant to establish each of those growing points, in my experience the best results are when each of those points are at LEAST 6-8 inches off the main branch.
Just don't agree with it being LESS of a vege time.. unless I don't fully understand what you mean...
Just saying flowering right after training doesn't let the plants stems thicken or establish enough to produce dense flowers, at least in my experience.
In fact I like to let each "cola" stem to "wood" up a lil before flowering, I don't like that hollow stuff, it just gives you bigger colas man, but to do that you'll need to vege that lady for probably at least two to three months if not longer.
THAT to me? is a whooooole harvest brother.
I'd get a 20 gallon smart pot, and fill it with five clones, flower about three weeks after cloning, don't prune and with the right strain you can yield probably an ounce each if not more, each plant. Dial it in and you can hit 2oz each. that's 5-10 oz, every 2-3 months, so unless you plan on getting 15-20 oz off that one plant, it's just not worth it.
i'm not hating brother, just saying from what I have done in the past, SCROGing is only good if you are allowed like less than 3 plants.
if not, go with more smaller, FASTER, plants that you can flip quicker.
your method would in my estimation cost you a lb a yr at least in lost time.
Not to mention the longer you have a plant in a container the more likely you'll run into problems.
Just my input, i'm not saying my way is right, just saying i'd do it a lil different
