Micro-grow box configuration

Hey, so by micro grow I mean like REALLY micro. I've got a small box and in a week or two begin growing. Box dimentions are ~ 50(high)*40(wide)*30(deep)cm which is around 20"*16"*12", grow in soil/dirt with 4 CFLs of 30-36watt.
As the space is very limited, I've been thinking a lot how to maximize it. So look:

First one is kinda-vertical grow inspired - lights will hang in the middle of the box, surrounded by some kind of screen(like a chickenwire) and plants will grow all around.
Second one is just a scrog - blue line represents a screen.
Which option looks better? I lend in favor of the right one, the scrog, but may be vertical can be more productive, as the plant will have more headspace?
You can see ventilation fans positioning for each one. Also, I think I'll put the pot outside the box, right below it, to gain additional space.

Any input is apreciated!

I have a cab with similar dimensions just a few inches higher, went with a scrog last run and space was never really an issue. I like the vert idea tho, I think either way you'd be good just a matter of preference. The vert would likely give you some more surface area out of your plant than the scrog which is a big advantage. As long as you get an even canopy you'll get even light penetration and the most out of your lights.

Thanks! Well, I'm also liking the vertical idea, but I guess for this run scrog will do. And next one will be vertical! Gotta try them all!

There used to be a guy over at IC who had a micro vert grow....always seemed to perform....

If you have any kind of left over budget for upgrades...I would seriously consider LED's, then you could mount them on top of the box, pointing in, saving you that much space to grow....:peace:

Also, if you do a scrog the cfls work much better when in a horizontal plane.....I have some old mini fridge grow pics to attest to this....but eventually the cfls were ditched :(

I agree, with those dimensions you could easily buy one driver a few of vero's smaller leds and spend not much more money and drastically improve your grow. not to mention free up some valuable space.

Then, I would go with the traditional canopy over the micro vert setup. Dunno how much you'd actually need a screen to maintain an even canopy though.
