He was stopped for no good reason (tail lights met state requiements), then chased down and shot in the back while running away. What does the officer say during the trial?

"In my mind, at that time, people don't run from a broken taillight; there's always another reason," Slager said in his testimony.

Those scofflaws driving with a third broken tail light must be pretty scary.

Running away is a capital offense, no trial necessary.

Especially if you're black.

:spew:

@bearkat42 will be along shortly to explain this.

I have watched many episodes of COPS.
It is not uncommon to see them pull over a car and occupants run (for various reasons).
Not once have I seen them shoot unarmed people in the back.
The guy who did this is a shit stain and should be in jail.

I was wrong. The intelligence of that room goes to zero. What's it like to be the kind of person who would make a zombie look smart?

WOW! Add the sentence. He knew I was going to search for it and, most likely, turn it, to the end of the testimony and you have pretty good synops. of what the goal of policing is. TOO MAKE AN ARREST. The busted taillight, The cops forethought of an arrest, and the vic's knowledge of an outstanding issue, Sets up a kind of Kabuki Theater, which when played to the end, Closes the curtain on a death. Has Slager discharged on the job B4. If not, it is tragic that Slager made the fated decision. If he has been in shoot outs before then it is murder in my book. It's pretty obvious to my lyin eyes Mr.Slager was not in fear. IMO, it's a butt-hurt killin.

The one holdout thinks the 'perp' got what he deserved.

Driving while black with a taillight out. Definitely justifiable homicide. o_O

Its too easy to mislead the dumb American public in many cases, that is why I've said for years we need professional jurors..all it takes is one out of 12 to waste thousands of man hours, hundreds of thousands of dollars on a trial is one dumb hayseed that hears a " hey, cops have a tough job..the suspect turned and had a shiny metallic object. Could have been mistaken for a weapon". That nonsense would never play with professional jurors. This case is open n closed guilty as hell of murder, not manslaughter.
