What about these strips MewK? Every looked them before, not quite as flexible, but maybe a smaller overall footprint and better penetration.
Could be a little more spendy for sure, but I have always looked at these for flush side lighting and they would seem to work in confined spaces too...

You know what would be awesome? You guys have probably seen on this forum or elsewhere how somebody bought a couple of bare LED's and glued/screwed them to a chunk of aluminum? Duct it so that your PC Grow box vent fan pulls some air from behind the aluminum plate. You'd regain a huge chunk of space inside the box and you could engineer a very powerful light. I'll bet just one of those 10W Cree's would provide more than enough light.
I just grabbed the first thing I could find. This guy's contraption might be a little too big for you, Mewk. There are a lot of these aquarium folks dabbling in DIY.

Sorry for the delay everyone. I had my birthday somewhere in the last week, and only just recovering from it.
Okay, so here's the harvest and wet weigh-in pics:

So that gave me 120g wet. I was left with pretty high hopes.
Came back this morning, and they'd started to go dry on the outside of the buds, so I figured it was time to get them jarred up. Gotta say, they first bud I touched was really airy, then the second.. then the third... I'm not sure where I went wrong on this grow, but the buds are nothing in comparrison to the first grow.
So, here's the pics of the final trim / jar. Then the final weight.
Well.. there we have it.. One solitary ounce.
I shouldn't moan, that's gonna look after me well, I just wish I could suss where I went wrong.
I was pondering on the idea of revegging her, and trying to get a quick turnaround. But I dunno now. I've got my 5m strip of 5050 lights through. So I think I'll bin the rest of the girl, and work on getting the box much brighter inside. Then crack another grow on as soon as that's sorted.
Sorry there's no real bud-porn. But the largest cola wasnt even that dense. Ho hum. We shall smoke weed and carry on!

Really one ounce is really nice, it didn't meet our expectations BUT there are many factors that contribute to the dense or not buds, or whatever we want to gain from our grow.

Happy belated birthday and harvest mewk!
Something to consider as potentially the cause of the airiness is the the soil you're using. If i remember correctly you said you're just using plain old garden soil, and nutes occasionally if ever?
If this is the case I have a plant you may remember as the thrifty crate OG, well it was in regular soil and its structure and growth speed were extremely weak compared to the clone of it that is currently in my pc rig. the only difference is that the pc has less light and fox farms ocean forest soil.
Im not saying that ffof is the best soil out there or anything, but I did really notice the clone's growth greatly exceeded its mother plant in traditional potting soil. Even more evidence as soil for a major factor would be that the mother plant's soil subsided about 3-4 inches, so 2 weeks ago or so I added some of my good soil on top and now that plant has turned back around and is growing great. Ill try to get some pics up somewhere soon to show the results.

Ah, a birthday to recover from, sounds like fun. Nice work on the grow. Of course it could always be better but when you catch your mistake you will be able to push on from there. I got a couple of questions for you. First, what are you using for nutes during the grow? And, what are you doing with the trim after harvest? I've been studying both your grows as it seems my grow bears some resemblance. Right now my buds are super sticky and dense but the main cola looks a tad sparse with a handful of dense nugs around it. What were your buds like before harvest? Hoping to peel yor brain before the buds cure.

Great work! You and I both may not have hit our goals but we still have some killer smoke to enjoy. My Kaya 47 was really light and skinny long buds, they smoke great and the stuff is very strong. Just not dense. All we can do is try again. Good luck on your next endeavor. Keep posting and keep it green my friend.

@Avrum - You're right dude, an oz is a good pull, regardless. I'm much happier about the situation, since I've been smoking it.
@TheDude - Thanks for the words man. Next time 'round will be better again!
@GrossePointe - Cheers man, the next grow will be soon. The new setup will be pretty much the same as this, but hopefully with 5 meters of strip LED's in there to give her a bit of a boost.

@Nerd - The next grow will be the same strain as these first two. I have been tempted to work a grow with some of my bagseed, but I can't be hassled with the sexing issues at the moment. So I'll just work through the rest of the pack of the fem shiva skunk.
@Dragon - Actually after the buds have cured a little more, they're really not as airy as I thought, but they are kinda small. There's not much in the trimmings jar, but I might just grind down everything that's there and whack them into some cookies or summit.
@Kirk - Thanks man. Yeh, you might be right about getting some nicer soil. I'm always worried that some of these special treated soils might burn her at the seedling stage, but I guess I could just use a tiny pot of regular soil until she's got out of her 'awkward' stage
. The soil I've used on both grows has just been cheap organic seedling stuff from the local hardware place. Can you get Fox Farm Soil in the UK? I'll have to have a ganders at that in a minute.
@Spanky - Dude my biggest issue is that I tend to smoke most of my trim as I go along, this has been (almost certainly) a contributing factor to the non-epic results from the previous grows. By the time I harvested, I'd already massacred a good amount of fan leaves and popcorns. Been watching your grow man, it's looking great.. And you are gonna have some fun with that 250w HPS. As for pickin m'brains, just chuck me a PM if there's anythin I can help with.

I'm no expert with the carbon filters, I just used the RIU tutorial here: https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/101248-best-diy-ez-walmart-carbon.html - I made some slight mods to it, as I couldn't source all the bits, this side of the pond. But it seems to do an okay job. I do need to replace the carbon for the next grow tho, as grow #2 stunk.
@Reku - Likewise man! Sure we didn't nail the magical amount, but we're both taking some nice long tokes from weed we've nurtured from a seed. That's karmicly fucking perfect, I say!

Idk if fox farms is available everywhere, but I know you can order worm castings, perlite, sea kelp, and bat guano online for about $30 total. Thatll be enough to upgrade multiple bags of other soil, just add some of each to the soil you're already using and it will give it a huge boost (its also pretty easy to find other peoples exact recipes here).
