first things first.. lol.. don't do it too fast.. I told u in a pm.. how I got to 20mg.. and felt no withdrawal at all.. so .. honestly.. don't be afraid of it.. as long as u just go slow.. ull be fine.. im telling you man.. keep busy.. its a life saver.

If your on 100mm you can literally drop 5mg a day till you get to 80 then do 5mg every three days until your at 50 then 5mg a week till your at 2mg then go slow.

remember mdone has a ridiculous long half life I believe it's 96 hours off the top of my head which makes it extremely easy to taper down very fast with done.

Another way to go is stop done all together and take oxy or dilaudid for two weeks slowly tapering during those 2 weeks. The actual w.d is much easy from heroin, dilaudid, Oxy then it is from subs or mdone

I've been going to the clinic off an on for over 10 years. I was all strung out on heroin before I got on the Methadone at the clinic. I went as high as 90 mgs. Right now I am at 50 mgs. I actually just got a paper on how they recommend to decrease your dose to taper off of Methadone.

How to decrease dose:
- 100+ mg. decrease 5 mg. every 14 days
- 50-100 mgs. decrease 2-3 mgs. every 14 days
- 20-30 mgs. decrease 1-2 mgs. every 21 days
- 1-20 mgs. decrease 1 mg. every 21 days if no symptoms of withdrawal
- Faster decrease is against medical advice

At the clinic here in Kentucky that I go to, this is how they recommend that you taper off. So far I haven't noticed any signs of withdrawal, but I definitely feel ya on being scared of losing your safety net. I was just talking with my counselor about this same subject this morning. She said that I can go down faster, but they just don't recommend it. It is a really slow and scary process, but you can do it! Best of luck!

Can you ask your clinic to do a blind detox? It's tiny decreases every few days that you aren't aware of. One of the more painless kicks.

yup.. Kentucky boy has got it pretty good there.. im in the same boat.. at 20mg.. yesterday. today I went down to 19mg.. my clinic only lets u go down 10% of your dose at a time. MAX... but a lot of these clinics don't give a shit if they get you clean.. if u succeed they lose money.. so they hope and try to get you to relapse as much as possible. so u stay on the clinic for ever..

like was said.. withdrawal from opiates is easier then methadone.. or subs.. the halflife is so long it takes forever.. my buddy has been out the clinic for 6 months now.. and he got to 1mg.. then bought 30mg from a friend.. dosed it out to 1mg. and did a mg every other day.. then every 3 days.. and so on till it was gone.. and felt nothing at all. just a little more tired then normal.. but that's it.. he said smoking weed helped so much .. the first time he detoxed he didn't smoke shit.. an relapsed.,.. this time. he smoked WAY MORE then normal.. and got threw the detox no problems.. still went to work everyday.. so it couldn't of been that bad!!. most heroin addicts. feel any withdrawal .. they use.. or don't wana do SHIT... lol..

just gotta be strong man. its mainly in your head..

and with blind dosing.. the thing that I didn't like about it . is my clinic doesn't do it how u want to do It.. they do it there way.. and there way doesn't allow me to blind detox. until under 30mg. lol.. and they do it at there pace and not yours.. that's why I said fuck that ill detox myself.. once im really low like 5mg.. maybe ill do that tho..

Ya my last clinic I was in besides the one I'm in now..
I was on 150 mg a day this time around I didn't want to go over 100
I kicked the 150 but 5 months later fell off hard and had a nasty habit all that misery for nothing.I didn't sleep for like three weeks literally
And i didn't take a solid shit for like two months not looking forward to this but hopefully this time it will stick
No doubt weed is a life saver and hopefully the only medicine I'll be on in the future.methadone is wicked

if anyone is getting off methadone and eventually wants to get away from the clinic and needs to get some methadone from another source, let me know. I get a 6 pack each week and am willing to separate with some of them if someone was going to taper at home or something. Wed have to talk about it though and get to know each other to make sure everythings cool and legit first. But yeah i know how hard it is to get off so id be happy to help

I was prescribed Methadone for over 5 years. Side effects started to get out of control so I decided to taper off. I was on 50mg a day. It took me 6 mo. to taper off completely and another 6 mo. before I felt normal again. Good luck, it's worth it to feel normal again.
