hell ya thas tight, sucks about the light leak ive had that happen to me a few times lol sometimes u room will be light tight for weeks and then boom and staple will come out and let a tiny amount of light leak thru the poly black and white and walaa hermies!!! good thing u got em outa there, nice weight for 5 plants u should consider urself a good supervisor, with RO water the ph is neutral so u dont have to worry about testin the ph of RO water, since u arnt growin organic tap water is okay to use and is ok to mix with the RO water, u ever used hygrozyme, im not a liquid bottle nute guy anymore so i havent tried alota the new bottle products in a while but a buddy of mine runs lemon og in smart pots in a soilless base mix he orders his main nutes over the internet from holland (why idk he has the money to waste i guess, his brother owns a hydro store so its a mystery why he orders online) but he told me the key to his success that he could buy at any hydro store was hygrozyme, he adds it with every watering i guess he was having alota problems and got sum hygrozyme to help break down dead matter that had built up in his grow media, the hygrozyme also helps his plants uptake their nutrients, he has been adding it with his ona cleaning solution to clean his hydro setup too, i know hygrozyme is basically bottled enzymes but it has gotton better review than other enzyme products from what i heard

meta-naturals is a nute company that went outa business a few years ago, and dyno grow is another nute company that does mostly synthetic nutes, i havent used either in years so i dont know to much about the new dyno grow products but i know the dyno grow, bloom, and silicate solution is what i used to roll with when i would use synthetics

as for ur greenthumb considering u just told me u supervised a grow that did pretty good id say the color is definitly green (unless u decide to grow sum purps lol lame joke i know) whatd u mean u were gettin it wrong with smaller plants and containers? if ur plannin on growin in smaller containers then u just gota flower earlier, but when growing with smaller containers u can also fit more strains into ur grow area

I think thishygrozyme is the same as Cannazym which has enzymes in it to help break down. I only use it once a week though.

Hesi is a Dutch Nutes Co with a very easy feeding schedule. Their P/K nutes are a lot weaker than Canna P/K and are easy to use in conjunction with the flower nutes.

Need to do an EC and nute test later.

The Melon gums are looking good. They are now abt 25-27 cms. One of them is particularly light and may need to be fed tomorrow or the day after. My camera battery died on me so I need to take pics later. They look very nice. It's very important that I get the first few feeds right. The root system is a smaller clone in a 5 lt pot not a big veg from seed in an 11 L pot. This is where the confusion and de-railment started for me. I used to overwater them and under-feed. The first few watering are what I'm worried abt the most. Once the plants are growing well it will be easier for me. I like the plants to use up the water/feed every 2 days if poss. so, 3 waterings a week roughly, unless they need more.

I'll be going back into Jamaican Dream again after this lights' worth. I have 4 phenotypes to choose from and then I'll 'weed' out the weaker ones. You like different phenos so I'll show you some pics of them. Think it's already narrowed down to 3 out of 4.

gotcha, ya if its gettin pretty light then iz prolly gettin close to feeding time, jus remeber start out atleast half strength and work ur way up, i always like to make sure my plants get a good drink, remeber since ur worried about overwatering dont worry to much and underwater, make sure u get sum good run off so u know all the roots got a drink, watering ur plants 3 times a week is alot, keepin to a schedule like that is more suited for hydro setups, when growing in containers its always better to pick each container up to tell if it needs water cause sum plants will drink faster than others so keepin to that schedule might give u overwatering problems, espcially with younger plants they dont drink as fast so overwatering them can be really easy, i really dig seeing different pheno's im stoked to see sum more jamaican dream bud porn, what is the melon gum's heratige is it from one of the spain seedbanks?

Melon Gum is from Dr. Underground which is a Spanish company. They are pretty rated here and do some interesting hybrids. This one is a cross between Serious Seeds Bubblegum and Soma Seeds Lavander. This is why is smells so great. The initial high is quite Sativa and u think ur gonna be ok, then a little while later u get that knockout indica sofa lock effect. Still prefer the JD but this is a good yielder and could achieve 400-500g /sq m. I've only put in 10 clones as I kept 2 for Mums and culled out the rest.

As for the watering, initially, when they were small I didn't run-off and then when they were larger I did, but didn't wait enough for them to dry out between watering. Toxic salt build up, acidity problems etc.. Now, there'll be a run off and I will be patient and really make sure they need it b4 watering again. I think I've learnt my lesson - we'll see !!!

Remember though - these pots at 5.5 Litre which is 1.5 gallons I think. This is why I'm expecting them to dry out quicker. Not sure ???? I'll just keep lifting them to check !!

I've had to water half of them as they were really light and the soil was contracting on one of them. I made sure not to feed more than 1.5 ml/ litre which still had a very low EC of 0.44. The rec'd dose is 5 ml / litre. I watered with a slight run-off, as advised and am now expecting them to take a few days before feeding again. I have a feeling that the second feed will be 3 ml / litre as this strain is quite hungry and fast growing. Pics to follow up later !!

Thanks for reading !!

Hi Guys ,

I did the Hesi EC test last night. In preparation for this mornings first watering/ feeding. See the funny pic of the notebook. I think that EC 0.44 is a reasonable safe amount but I'm also expecting them to be hungry by the next watering - we shall see !!!

Looking good! Looks like you got the watering down pat..trust me they Will tell you when they are thirsty. A few hours before I think they need a drink I check the weight and then wait till the first signs of the slightest leaf sag. That's when I water them in 5 gallon buckets. They are tricky with watering because they will feel light but there might be moist soil at the bottom of the pot. I drilled a few holes here and there in the bucket and different heights so i know if the soil is moist or dry at that level of the soil. I just got my advanced nutrients bud candy in the mail today. Heard great stuff about that product. I can't wait to see the results. I have a watering scheduled tonight so I will snap a few pics of them and post them on my journal. Take care!

I've heard good things about bud candy. Also Atami products but they're super expensive.

I thought it was really strange that I only had to water half of them. The watered ones looked a bit droopy before the lights went out but I guess that's because the pot is heavy from this morning. I reckon it'll take days to lighten up, maybe 5. I will water the other half tomorrow morning. The thing is, it will take a few days for the fert to take effect. Did you think they looked hungry in the pics or just dry? I thought they were starting to look hungry??

Once they go into flower I will stop worrying so much. Prob in 3 weeks. This was my most recent problem. Soggy wet soil would turn acidic and they wouldn't flower. The pistils looked burnt and brown like never before. I uploaded some more Album pics but I really need to create one called 'graveyard plants'.

Glad you've got ur wiring problem sorted. You must have different circuits within the property. :)

So guys, here's the update. They didn't seem to like the first feed/watering which was 1.5 ml /litre. EC 0.44 They either weren't dry enough (which is why I only watered half) or they EC was too high. The leaves are clawing a bit and the new shoots are slightly twisting and have gone a bright yellowey colour. The last set of pics is a dry one which got its first watering today. Canna Soil has an EC 0.8-1.0 but they had been in the pots over a week since transplant in veg.

I had to water the other half today (u can see how dry the soil is in the pics plus it was very light) so I used 1ml/ litre with a lower water EC, the total was EC 0.3.

For now, there is nothing I can do (except look on Ebay for a moisture meter) . They have now all been watered. I will have to wait a good few days to see how they respond. From there I will have to decide how much food they should be taking, hopefully moving upwards.

I did notice that the ones that got the later watering were about 1 cm taller than the rest. Average height now is abt 30 cms.

Are u giving them any type of B-vitamins? This helps them metabolize things better. It makes them healthier overall and helps them get over shock faster. Any beneficial bacteria or fungi in the soil? It helps a ton I tell ya. The microbes in my soil seem to love this bud candy. I have noticed some nice stacking going on up by the tops. Branches growing from main branches right when they develop have sub branches already. I almost mistook the little nubs of the sub branches being male parts. After closer inspection with scope I was satisfied that they were not male parts. Some of my calyxes on the preflowers towards the top are starting to turn a more dark green-purple color :) I already see a few trichs on sugar leaves on a few of the mid branches too! :) Your ladies are pretty good though. A bit of weird growth but as they get bigger they will work it out. The ones are growing more because the roots are in search of water as the soil dries out, which translates to better faster vegetative growth.

Hi JP :) ,

I had to check on-line so yes it has. I will keep on using it. I used half dose when transplanting and I can add it to the nutes next time. They also make a Canna Start for young veg growth but I haven't used it b4. I also have trichoderma powder and mineral magic which I think are both similar and can be top dressed.
[h=1]CANNA RHIZOTONIC[/h] CANNA RHIZOTONIC is a powerful, algae based, vegetative stimulator for plant roots. It contains multiple vitamins and is 100% natural. RHIZOTONIC adds more than 60 microbiological substances that considerably speed up the growth of a balanced root environment.
[h=2]Benefits of CANNA RHIZOTONIC:[/h]
  • Stimulates new root growth on cuttings and transplants.
Besides stimulating root growth on plants that are already rooted, RHIZOTONIC also stimulates new root growth on cuttings and transplants. The various trace elements and vitamins such as B1&B2 stimulate the production of hormones and root growth, thus providing beautiful, strong white roots.
  • Speeds up the germination process when used to soak seeds prior to planting.
If you dilute RHIZOTONIC (40ml/10 litre), you can use it to soak seeds. RHIZOTONIC softens up the seed skin, making it easier for the seed to burst and germinate.
  • Enhances overall plant growth and chemical reactions in the plant to ensure a healthier, powerful and stronger plant.
Good results start with a healthy plant. Because RHIZOTONIC stimulates root growth, it improves the strength of a plant. This is especially important during the first weeks of a plant's life, since young plants are the most vulnerable. RHIZOTONIC stimulates further root development, increases the plant’s resistance to diseases and promotes its inner and outer strength.
  • Aids in the recovery process of any plant or cutting that has been subjected to stress in any way whatsoever.
Many growers agree that plants recover much quicker from stress situations if the leaves have been sprayed with RHIZOTONIC. Such stress situations could for example occur during transport and re-potting plants. RHIZOTONIC will also improve plants that are unhealthy or poorly developed.
Furthermore, RHIZOTONIC is often sprayed on leaves and can be used as a simple means for raising the pH level in fertiliser tanks.
RHIZOTONIC can be used regardless of the type of medium. It is suitable for cultivation in potting mix and hydro culture. You can use it during the whole growth cycle. From seed to harvest!

Hi Guys !!!

Thanks for ur input. I've heard of adding molasses but I'm not sure how available it is here. I often joke that this place is like Russia in the Sun !

My mistake for using the green Hesi bottle too soon. Reason being was that they had a bit of Canna soil at the bases of the 10cm pots and this fed them (no veg food) and then they were transplanted (new soil - no veg food) and then it was a good few days on 12:12 b4 the first watering. I should have used the yellow (veg) bottle of Hesi which is higher in N and lower in P&K. Confusing because at week 3 I have to use the green & blue bottle until they're finished. I thought the yellow veg bottle was for 18:6 only.

However, they are lightening up in the pots and getting taller so growth hasn't been halted. Next watering could be :-

(which I have already) Canna mono nutrients in N so I could just make a mix of EC 0.0 plus tap to EC 0.2 and EC 0.1 of N = EC 0.3. Maybe a 1/2 ml/l of feed to bring it to EC 0.4 They certainly will be needing more N and a bit less P & K.

Either way I will be keeping the EC low ( EC 0.3 - 0.5) for the next couple of waterings.

Thanks for reading !!!

I'll post more pics tomorrow, been busy with a sq of my JD today !!

ul be alright theyl come outa it they didnt get stressed out to bad jus gettin use to the food, when u start flowering and ur using liquid nutrients u always wanna use like 1/2 veg and 1/2 bloom for the first week, second week 1/4 veg and 3/4 bloom and by third week itll be all good to go with straight bloom cause the plants do use nitrogen during flowering and alot during the first weeks, subcools apollo 13 bx and my hybrid The thriller (zombi x apollo 13 bx) both like high nitrogen all the way up to about day 28 of budding, which is wk.4! and they dont get it they yellow out hella fast, the thriller doesnt yellow as bad but if u dont give that apollo good nitrogen until then that fucker yellows out quit, so next time u feed add alittle veg food with the bloom, and molasses does work wonders if u ever can find the wholesome sweetener's organic un-sulphured molasses that is my favorite brand to use, good shit!

you should be able to get unsulfured molasses at any food store...across the world. It should be in the baking isle around where to sugar would be. Now I know you live overseas from the states so it is just a "should be" lol. You can buy molasses on ebay too I'm sure. I heard it is called "black treacle" in the UK.

Hey !!! Black treacle is indeed used in lots of English puddings and we have a British Shop here. It's so thick and gloopy you could grease metal with it. It's a sugar product. I prefer Golden Syrup personally !!! Honestly, it's so backwards here. I went to the main National department store to get vacuum cleaner bags and they sold the machine but not the corresponding bags. It's a nightmare. Never in the UK !! Thank God for Ebay! I sometimes have to go to 3 different grow shops, no 4 to get exactly what I want.

haha cool! yeah I heard of golden syrup too. If you are going to use it I would suggest running a gallon of water under the tap using hot water to get the temp up a bit so it dilutes easier and mix very very well. Use 1-2 tsp per gallon in veg and I use 1 tablespoon per gallon during flower...well I used to that is. I have the bud candy now which is basically the same thing but easier to dilute and there is more beneficial stuff in it. I wish I had a grow shop by me. I would be much easier/cheaper/safer than ordering all my supplies online. I know I take a risk ordering from amazon but the free shipping has me hooked. They basically get their product from grow shops anyway and it comes in the original packaging. I would be spending $130 plus $45 in shipping to get my grow tent from an online hydro store and amazon has it for the same price and like I said...free shipping. I have been using htgsupply for years and spent thousands of dollars on product and recently asked them for a customer discount code for online ordering. They told me that I had to spend $400 or more to get a 15% discount but since they value me as a customer they will add a free lighter and t-shirt to my next order smh. I told them I have spent over $5000 in the last 5 years on their product and they concurred but still told me that discounts are reserved for customers who order more than $400 at a time. They lost a good customer lol.

Some companies have no business sense at all. My friends give all customers 10% plus free lighters and papers etc and I get a good 20%, plus they know I can look up prices on Ebay and quibble !!! The other shops here will give u a discount but u need to ask or know them. Most of the prices are upped so that they can do a discount tho! Giving them a few clones here and there has definitely helped and of course, costs me nothing.

One of the shops discredited themselves recently when I wanted a €10 propogator and they only had the lid and not the matching base. He wanted me to use a larger base with gaping holes around the sides. I told him I wanted it for cloning with 90-100% RH and he said it's do. Lucky if I got 50%. I laughed at him and walked out after questioning how that was going to create high RH. They are always on the upsell ! Instead of just losing the €10 sale I now think he treats his customers like idiots and go there as a last resort. Plus I tell the other growers who all know him !!
