Mega crop vs farmers pride

So I've seen a bunch of people testing Greenleaf nutrients mega crop, and I'm intrigued.

I've used blue planets farmers pride for the last three years, and I'm thinking of changing things up.

That being said, the question araises though, how does mega crop, a one part dry fert, compare to the three part line of farmers pride? Also is mega crop organic? (I haven't seen if it is or isn't)

I'm wondering if anyone who has used both products has any imput on how the two stack up against each other.

No experience with Farmers Pride, but Mega Crop isnt considered an organic nute although it contains trace organics like kelp etc. It will be getting the OMRI stamp pretty soon I hear too. Im currently using it in a sterile hydroponics res.

Holding pretty steady. Water used is from tap at pH 7.0 and the Mega Crop brought it down and held it. I forget exact numbers (i have it all documented in the link in my sig) but it only swung up about .3 points the entire time Ive used it without use of any pH products. Solid buffers in it for sure.
i wonder why mine kept going down? i haven't tried MC lately but you and @ChaosHunter both drifted up just slightly.

only thing different is i was using RO.

guess i have to give it another shot with well water.

I honestly have zero complaints so far with it other than how it smells in the bag haha. :spew:
Solid ph with the perfect amount of drift, no burnt tips, mixes down nice in the res. I hope it does as well as Chaos' flowering plants.
Thats not to say I wouldn't need pH up if the pH of my water were to change (which it does by almost 1.0 point between summer and winter). I dont even own a bottle of pH up.

If the nute you are using in your hydro setup lowers the pH when you do you mix and it also lowers your pH as your plant drinks, it means that you are using too much nutes.

Essentially, your plant drinks water and not an equal amount of nutes, which creates a more concentrated solution as your plant drinks. And since your nute lowers your pH, your pH keeps going down as your plants drink the water and leaves some nutes.

so just to clarify, you mix it up and it pH's itself without any up or down?

what gram/gallon mix rate are you at?

my RO is low 5's and my well is high 6's so with well, it should do the same as you.

i just had a problem going longer than maybe 4 days. i'd set it at around 6.0 and by day 4 or 5 it was at 5.3 or lower with RO.

that's all correct but i'm in drain to waste. nutes and roots never mix until they get a feeding. my pH in my res was dropping like a stone which shouldn't happen in dtw. or if so, not by much up or down during the week.

im having the same problem, also ro...

good stuff so far in all other aspects. feeding according to gln chart
yeah! it's not just me. lol. hahaha i really want to use it since i won the medium bag and that's alot of nutes!!

i didn't buy their explanation that my pH UP was the problem. i'm not a chemist but that didn't make sense.

how long is yours stable for? about same as me 4 to 5 days before it's out of range?

starts going down fast at four days, levels out at 4.5 by day six. if i chase it up, it still drops below 5 daily after day four (4.7-5.0). i ph to 5.8, going to try 6.0 next week.

only prob i've had is ph (and stinky room, lol)

just curious, but what brand pH UP do you use?

Exactly. I had tap at 6.9 or close to that, then mixed 5g per gal (10gal total). Brought it down about a full point. Had the same res mixed for 8 days and only got a slight drift up. A total of about .3 or so in about a weeks time. I topped off with a 2 gallons of dehuey water (that was low 5's) just in the last couple days. After that, the last I checked I was at 5.8 again. Its looking like I will likely make it to next res change (Dec 3rd) without needing to adjust anything as well. Honestly, I cant see why there would be a pH drop in RO unless the buffers are less active in RO vs mineral rich water? I dont know if I'd point the finger at your pH products though.
