MedMe or MedicalMarijuana.ca...

Excellent! I received news today that I have been accepted into the Medical Marijuana program. Can anyone provide thoughts or experience on the best route to take for acquiring marijuana? DG, Grow, or Health Canada? If you are perscribed say... 5 gr/day (seems to be common), does that mean you must purchase that amount if you are buying from HC? 5$/gr isn't what you would expect. I don't want to have to go through getting permission from the land owner. So that only leaves me with DG or HC. Thoughts from any Canucks?

If you live where you want to grow, and intend to grow indoors, you do not need your landlords permission, nor do they need to know. As for HC's supply of Medical Marijuana, it's garbage, and trust me, you don't want it. Many of us go to the streets because "compassion" clubs charge far far too much, claiming it's due to "Overhead costs" when anyone knows, even the underground has as much, or more overhead, yet still manage to cut deals to a point of affordability.

IMO Compassion clubs, and many DG's are simply taking advantage of a lack of quality on HC's part, by charging outrageous prices to those who genuinely need this medicine (Compassion clubs), or simply using your condition as a smoke screen to legally grow their own black market supply (DG) and profit off your illness.

Neither of these options spells "Compassion" to me, but rather smells of betrayal, by those who would lie to our face and say "We care".

Go the grow it yourself rout... trust me.

Here's an example of just how much they can profit from your illness.

Generally speaking, .5g/watt of light is the average yield, some get more, some get less.

My daily limit is 18g/day, which works out to 540g/month, or 88 plants indoors.

1 1000w light per 4 plants = approx 500g (at .5g/watt yield)

Multiply that by 22 to get my total of 88 plants (4 plants per 1000w light), and you have 11,000g in a 3-4 month time frame, breaking down to 2,750g/month. 540 of which comes to me at a cost in most cases, usually $3/g, and the remaining 2,210g, or 4.9lbs they sell on the black market for black market prices again, turning an additional profit on your illness. Which where I'm from, is $2800/lb, which translates to $13,720 EVERY MONTH!!!

I tend to agree with the notion that compassion clubs are a rip off. I've seen the prices they charge. I can get it for far less. And while my person doesn't have a store front to pay for, they do have other bills and concerns - and they manage just fine. When I say far less, I mean far less.

The clubs pay less for their dope from the growers too if you are to believe HC, so it's even worse IMO as even if I didn't know someone who grew directly I could STILL score significantly cheaper on the street.

Exactly my point

I agree the program needs to be implimented fully. When you allow a person to use a perscription then not cover that script under a plan of some sort, you have to expect this kind of situation.

Sadly statistics show that Store front shops and mom and pop's now have to charge an average of 42% upcharge on whatever they sell to be a sucessful business in Canada. Its not the person, its the system we live in AGAIN.

Now add 42% onto your far less expensive product and you will see they are a lot closer now aren't they? You have our Government to thank for that, not the guy like you and me just trying to make ends meet.

I'm going to meet the owner of the local compassion club next week.

I'm not capable of growing on the scale required to cover usage and they sell edibles and concentrates in addition to having a selection of strains at a substantially lower price and it's all based on quality (outdoor, greenhouse, hydro, etc).

For me its worth it because I'm currently stuck taking whatever I can get and paying $240-260/oz. Currently waiting our DG to get setup and going, so there's a 3-4 month gap that we need to fill.

I would half agree with you here Sir.G, both have monthly fees (Rent, power, communications, etc. None of this is free). They have in addition, employees such as runners, protection, and a whole slew of "Positions" that network no differently than that of a compassion club, just more underground, and less "out in the open".

They have no additional fee's over and above that of an underground dealer, so my question is this.

When a dealer pays $2800/lb, sells it for $60/quarter, which works out to $8.57/g AND gets cheaper as you buy more. When a compassion clubs "NEEDS" to sell @ 11/g no matter how many you buy (28g cost's $308 VS $200 on the street, that's $108 MORE EXPENSIVE), to stay afloat? Yet still was charged the same $2800 the street dealer was charged. AND Has more customers than most any single underground dealer.

The numbers speak for themselves, and they scream GREED!!!

EDIT: In addition to that, some clubs in BC are even worse IMO, Street prices in BC are low, between $1400-$2000 for AAA, which works out to at highest $4.46 on the gram, and still sell it for $8-$12/g, that's upwards and above 100% profit. While there are some who will give you discounted prices on what they have in stock when you buy in bulk ie 2 weeks supply (ilikecannabis.ca) but those from my research, are exceptionally rare, and the link provided, is the only one willing to bend their prices to accommodate someone with larger daily requirements.

But these are just my opinions, nobody has to agree with them, but people living in the dark and hiding from the light of truth is the reason were in this state of prohibition in the first place.
