Medijuana Strain - Very small buds 6 weeks into flower.

Ok here goes. I am growing the Medijuana strain and am about 6 weeks after putting the plants into 12/12. So far the buds are very wispy and really no more than a bunch of white pistils. The buds have not swelled, or put on any weight at all.

This is my first time grow. I purchased one of those grow boxes that you can find that basically comes with everything. Its a tall closet like cabinet that has a 4 x 3 x 6 growing space.

Setup:
  • Hydro with DWC set up.
  • 10 Gallon tub with 6 1/2 gallons of water in it.
  • Hydroton inside net cups with rapid rooters.
  • 1 air stone that is on for 24 hours, and 1 that comes on during watering.
  • Water on drip setup that runs 4 times a day for 30 minutes.
  • Fluro Duo A, and B nutes.
  • 2 135 Watt LED lights. http://www.actechwi.com/product-p/ufo-135.htm (Here is a link to the exact lights I have.)
Method:
  • Started from seed with RO water with no nutes.
  • When plants were about 4'' I added some basic nutes following the recommendation on the Fluro Duo Bottles.
  • Drain and add new RO water with nutes every 14 days.
  • Vegged for a total of 7 weeks on 18/6
    • Temps average 80 day/75 night
    • PH kept around 5.8 testing with a digital PH meter.
  • After Veg 2 plants were about 1' tall and the other 2 were 2' tall. All very health with no obvious problems.
  • Due to space restrictions and the size of the fan leaves on the plant I removed a significant amount of fan leaves before switching into 12/12

So now its 6 weeks into flowering. It took at least 2 weeks for bud sites to appear, then from there all the nodes have filled out with lots of white pistils. But there is no weight. The taller plants did a ton of stretching, but the smaller ones didn't really stretch at all.

My problem is that this is my first grow and I don't really know what to expect. Is it normal for my buds to be this small after 6 weeks of flowering? Do I just need to wait longer?

I don't know anything about the strain that you are growing but if it is a sativa or sativa dom it can take long to flower. If it has any haze genetics in it then yes that would be normal. You need to post some pics, hard to just guess. How much homework did you do on this strain before you purchased the seeds?

Sadly I do not have a digital camera. I might be able to borrow one from my neighbor but cant take pics until tomorrow.. The plants are in bed right now.

As for the strain.. It is indica dom, and here is a link to the strain on the site I purchased the seeds from. http://www.amsterdammarijuanaseeds.com/product_info.php?id=n1255030625134114625114055&currency=49&product_id=56

well the strain is best grown scrog... and they give no name of the cross if it is, and much info at all... so cant comment on that, unless i missed it on the site... this strain might just be one of those that takes long... how long ago did u see the first female pistils? u might be getting a head of ur self, but like sunni said post some pics...

Female pre flowers showed up around 7 days, and pistils didn't start popping out of the top bud nodes until around 9 - 11 days. I am really crossing my fingers that they are just taking forever to start putting on weight. Thing I am worried about tho is 2 of them are still producing a crap ton of fan leaves.

well if u interrupted the 12/12 period it may cause ur plants to take longer... its in the dark period that it reaches high enough hormones to show sex... if u maybe got eager to check on them and turned lights on it would affect this, and im not to sure on the led lights? maybe they dont pack enough when it comes to the flowering stage when u need it? and i noticed ur ph is rather low... the lowest is 5.8 try to bring it up to 6 - 6.2. make sure its getting enough Phosphorus as well.. if its showing pistils and its healthy just keep to a 12/12 hour uninterrupted cycle... get working on sending pics of ur set up and plants tomorrow if u can! im sure u just have a late bloomer...

If I am lacking light 6 weeks into flower. Can I simply take out 2 of the plants so the remaining 2 get more light for the final 3 weeks and see bigger buds?

well i dont know to much about led lights... but i would imagine that removing 2 plants wont help... u need to lower ur led light right above the plants to get full potential or at least have one above and one maybe on the side... u can also go buy cfl lights that will help... phillips ad850 or 830 are great lights some of the best cfl lights... i would go buy a few cfl bulbs,, u get screw in kinds so they easy to install and dont use allot of power like HIDs... best option is to add more... look at my friends cfl grow so u get an idea

and try get ur next door neighbours camera... i would like to see those leds inaction to see how far the light travels before it disperses, and of course to see ur ladies (medijuana)

Running pretty much the same set up and having same problem, I think. First grow, trying different things with training. Have two 132 watt led (so called 300watt) 11in to 10in above canopy. What your opinion on small buds 5 weeks into flower?

I've used a couple of old Mars 300's on grows in the past and based on PPFD reading I get from the light they will need to be no more than 6" from the canopy to get at least a 500 umole/m2 density. I'd try and see how close I could run the lights without creating stress and still maintain adequate coverage.
How long ago did you defoliate?

Light
Airflow / exchange.
Temperature
Humidy

The four most important factors.
IMHO, i put light at #1, and air exchange #2

Temps and humidity, are easy to control. But still very important, none-the-less.

Only if they're competing with each other.
If plants compete for light, they get leggy, and grow taller.
But its hard to mimic light properly, with LED's. Because of how focused, the intensity, and spread is.
IMHO

Why did you remove all the leaves?

Can I see your grow so I can see how a expert master grower grows please
I'm not claiming to be an expert but I never cut a single leave off and get nice big fat buds every grow.
