Medical Dispensary Reviews

Hey guys,

I've been in the Denver/Boulder(live 30 min from each) for about a year now. And while I don't claim to be an expert, I am a super fucking into cannabis and have done A LOT of shopping around. I also follow a lot of canna-celebs to stay up to date on the latest and greatest.

Anyway, I've got all this info in my head about when and where to get what and figured others might benefit.

As a sort of disclaimer, I know that people are looking for different things, price vs quality, etc. I am solely focused on quality(I'm sort of a canna-snob, lol) so the reviews might reflect that. Also I see the price as relative to what you get. Sort of value(quality) for the spend.

Also, this is strictly the medical side of things, not recreational. By that I mean I do not purchase or look at the recreational selection, cuz why pay 3x as much?

PS> Take 2 on this. Tried to get it merged but ended up not working out. Other thread will be removed, I've quoted the replies at the end.

The Best Shops(so far)
I'll start off with saying I've only recently started to really branch out amongst the really good. So I can't speak to long term consistency, and have actually started reading some worrying things about my new favorite spot in that regard as they have ramped up to and are now open for rec sales, more on that below.

I've gone though a lot of phases since moving here. Now I'm mostly into really good flower, peppered with top-notch solvetless. The 6 months or so before that I was content with CAM flowers and whatever good bho or ice wax I could find, and I'd hit up RRW on member day. And before that I was mostly into budder/statter and flowers from RRW and The Clinic.

Kind Love(KL): Been there more than a few times, mostly after we first moved here a year ago. Actually gonna go soon to snag some live nectar. I follow them and they've been posting their menu lately BUT I have not been there in a long time.
  • Flower: Consistent. Tight trim. Great smell/flavor. Very good strains. Very good potency. I remember it was often small popcorn nugs but still good.
  • Concentrates: Various brands and types. Good from what I remember but it's been a while.
  • Edibles: Good selection. Been seeing some fire shit on fb recently too.
  • Medical Products: Limited-Average. But it's been a while.
  • Price: A little high but def worth it.
  • Staff: Good. Knowledgeable and "into" cannabis for sure. Very chill people.

Trill Alternatives(Trill): Been there more than a few times. There are many good shops in Boulder but this is the only one I've been back to a lot. Wanting to revisit some and try some others I haven't been to yet.
  • Flower: Consistent. Loose Trim. Great smell/flavor. Very good strains. Very good potency. I only look at the top shelf and usually look for the jars with the unusually large nugs. This is one of the only places I've found that have giant buds in the jars, lol.
  • Concentrates: Wide selection of various brands and types. Haven't tried much bho from here and usually only make the trip when I see they get some fresh fire solventless from EE. Which btw the fresh 70-120 is excellent but sells out fast and is overpriced, like much in Boulder, lol.
  • Edibles: Good selection.
  • Medical Products: Limited-Average. Can't recall to be honest.
  • Price: Overpriced but it's Boulder and it's worth it.
  • Staff: Eh... lol. This is a weird one. I'd say pretty snobby, or even "annoyed" with the customer. However, that's not always the case. And more than twice the person seemed rude or snobby at first then was chill after I started looking at stuff, lol.

Colorado Alternative Medicine(CAM): Been there a bunch, pretty much my go-to for flower for a long while, and still are. I love how they have all the jars sitting out and just let you look and smell. I fucking hate when places only pull out one jar at a time and hold it up to your face. I know what I'm doing, I'm not gonna touch your shit or shake the fuck out of the jar!! lol.
  • Flower: Consistent. Very tight trim(note below). Great smell/flavor. Great strains. Great potency.
  • Concentrates: They produce their own bho(wax mostly), and solventless. I have heard really great things but I have not tried it much as I never catch the good solventless and I've all but quit using bho.
  • Edibles: Limited, Edi-Pure.
  • Medical Products: Limited. Can't recall to be honest.
  • Price: So far, out of the ~$300/oz shops, this is the best on price for quality.
  • Staff: Very friendly, defiantly weed people.

Not all but a lot their buds look similar, and it's because of the trim(and genetics obviously). They trim out pretty much the entire sugar leaf. Gives em all the same look, especially the kush strains.

Denver Relief(DR): Only recently started going here. Been 3 times so far. Initial visit was for some fresh EE, and it was the shit and not overpriced. I checked out their flower while I was there and walked out with 4 dif strains that looked and smelled amazing. Later after looking them up I discovered they've won cups with a few of them.

The caveat(for now) is they just opened for rec sales yesterday. And I've seen several comments about inconsistency on their "Elite" strains the past few months, and growing concerns over rec.

They have tiered pricing but it seems to be tied to the strains. Basically look at what you're getting and talk to the dudes to make sure your happy when you get home. My first time, every jar I looked at was damn fire. The 2nd time, I didn't look at the OG-18 very well and it was bottom of the jar and not the best nugs for the top shelf price.
  • Flower: See above. Tight trim. Great smell/flavor. Great strains. Great potency.
  • Concentrates: Top quality bho brands. Amazing regular fresh EE drops, sells out fast.
  • Edibles: Wide selection.
  • Medical Products: Good selection.
  • Price: Recent price drop just before going rec.
  • Staff: Friendly, defiantly weed people.

Kind Pain Management(KPM): Only been here once so far but I will def return. Recently made the trip for some fresh CBD solventless from EE. Which is my new favorite thing btw, lol. I was also happy to discover some nice buds at nice price along with a high cbd strain with a nice kush flavor.
  • Flower: Good trim. Very good smell/flavor. Great strains. Good potency.
  • Concentrates: Various bho brands. Regular fresh EE drops, sells out fast.
  • Edibles: Average selection
  • Medical Products: Above average due to the cbd slw and flowers.
  • Price: Good for the quality.
  • Staff: Friendly. Very disorganized when I was there.

Denver "Big Boys"
There are a number of large "chain" shops in the Denver area, gonna try to list them here. Most of these are what I'd call upper class better quality but still larger operations so yea.

The Clinic: Been to multiple locations many times, GF is a member here although haven't been there in a while.
  • Flower: Consistent. Tight trim. Good smell/flavor, Nice strains, Good potency.
  • Concentrates: They make all their own. First really terped out bho I had was here(Tangie Budder). They usually have an awesome selection of Budder and Shatter. And it ranges from Trim-Nug-Cola run. I've used a ton of their cola and nug run stuff. Very nice terps and potency.
  • Edibles: Small-Average selection.
  • Medical Products: Limited but it's been a while. I remember some capsules and Dixie tinctures and salves, which are always overpriced anywhere.
  • Price: Equivalent to what you get, def worth it.
  • Staff: Good. Knowledgeable and "into" cannabis for sure. I actually discovered CAM though one of their bud tenders after saying, "You're flowers are pretty good, I've been hunting around for the best spots." He said, "Try out CAM". Which I thought was fucking awesome of him.

Pink House(PH): Been to multiple locations many times. Comparable to The Clinic. The Verde location seems to be the best.
  • Flower: Consistent. Tight trim. Good smell/flavor, Nice strains, Good potency.
  • Concentrates: They make all their own and are somewhat famous for it. Although I should note that Derek Cumings no longer works for them, if anyone cares, lol. They only have Shatter, and I never felt it was that great compared to others. For solventless they process with Essential Extracts, although hard to get the good stuff even if you are on top of shit and go right after a fresh drop. I think the employees take all the good shit, lol.
  • Edibles: Small-Average selection.
  • Medical Products: Limited but it's been a while.
  • Price: Equivalent to what you get, def worth it.
  • Staff: Pretty good, sort of snobby sometimes.

Riverrock Wellness(RRW): Not sure where to start, lol. I've made a number of posts about them. Things have been sliding down hill even before retail rec went into effect. Have been a member here for a long time, I still am because I haven't picked a new spot yet but I've pretty much stopped going there now. Only for my discount on edibles and patches any more.

They are popular/famous for a number of things, most of which are no longer applicable. Their Rockbudder and CBD shatter are the reasons I signed up. Haven't had any of that since December and never will again. Their close connection with Rare Dankness, posted a thread on that the other day, RD is cutting all ties. Their ACT program for serious illnesses is still in effect, although there is drama surrounding that. Their slogan is "Premium Organic Cannabis", most of it is not premium or organic.

I've heard, and judging from the menus, that their south location gets better stuff but is also more expensive but I've never gone there.
  • Flower: Inconsistent. Trim varies. Lots of strains. The "top flight" bud is decent usually but you have to get lucky to get something above-average. Some of the "lower shelf" stuff is total trash.
  • Concentrates: Not currently producing their own bho. Carry TC Labs currently which is good shit and a good price for member. The produce their own solventless which is decent(when in stock) however not as good as others. Tip: Follow on facebook for drops and call and ask to hold, think they only do this for members though.
  • Edibles: Average selection. Incredibles mostly.
  • Medical Products: Wide selection, available quantity not always the best but they are good about holding stuff and making sure the seriously ill patients get what they need. Actually what I should say is the person that handles that stuff is good about it.
  • Price: Equivalent to what you get, cheaper than some but can find better bud for the same money for sure.
  • Staff: Varies, a few people there are really good and knowledgeable. Some of them, one tender comes to mind immediately, are totally incompetent. lol. Also, always takes forever to check out. Management seems pretty bad overall.

The Green Solution(TGS): They are essentially the Walmart of weed. They only win awards because they spend so much money to do so, much like some other larger places which I have not tired. You will never find any good concentrates or bud in the shop.

Also, they seem to be 100% focused on recreational, all the best stuff is for rec only. They even make medi people wait in the same long ass line as the rec. Even the best clones are Rec only.(nice selection usually btw)

They have a very good selection of secondary products however. Well, edibles seem to be mostly on the rec side now but they have a lot of non medicated stuff.
  • Flower: "Entry Level" Better than what a lot of places put as "bottom shelf" but not that great. Low smell/flavor. Flash dried. Not fire but decent. Have some nice strains but compared to the profiles of the same strains elsewhere, they are shit, lol. Usually consistent but sometimes very bad. Only bud I ever returned was from here(Chem 4, was so harsh it was impossible to smoke).
  • Concentrates: Forget about it. Nothing good was ever in stock, and what they did have was overpriced fo sho. One time I got some "decent" shatter there, however it doesn't come close to other offerings out there. I also got "lucky" once and got some of their "nectar wax" which is supposedly the only nug run they do, it wasn't very good either.
  • Edibles: Wide selection but last 2 times medi only had a few things in stock.
  • Medical Products: Decent selection but overpriced.
  • Price: Matches the quality pretty well. Mass produced for sure, but if your looking to get the most for you money, they are a good option.
  • Staff: Sort of a mixed bag, your "tender" is likely some idiot kid that'll stare at you blankly if you ask pretty much any question. The management is extremely professional and will fix any problem, and some of them are actually pretty smart. It really is like a Walmart or whatever.

Northglenn (I live closest to these and "cut my teeth" on most of them so I know em fairly well)

Botanacare: Do not go here. lol. They give you the impression that they are experts, esp when it comes to treating medical conditions. Don't fall for it, they are amateurs compared to other spots, and while they seem knowledgeable with their lil 20 min long intro to MMJ and THC, CBD, etc. They don't know shit beyond that.

This was my first Dispensary. I chose them first over the other two in the area because of their weedmaps menu.

They claim to have all these legendary strains but some of them don't actually exist in the first place or are not what they claim it to be.

Even if the strains were legit, the bud quality is low and the price is too high for what you are getting.

I went back there one other time, several months later, and got some straight up TERRIBLE wax from them, tried the buds again and same deal as the first time.
  • Flower: Bad trim. Low smell/flavor. Not frosty/busted trics. No nug "tips" (it's like someone removed the tip of every nugget, lol.)
  • Concentrates:Cheap but garbage, tasted "green".
  • Edibles: Good selection. Mary&Kate mostly I think.
  • Price: Too high for the low quality
  • Medical Products: Limited
  • Staff: Not great. Slow. It's like a facade because they have all this info and cute lil pictures about the strains but if you dig a lil deeper you can tell they are not knowledgeable or "into" the "scene".

The Green Solution(TGS): Full review above. Adding in here as well to say this is the location I visited most often. And that after Botannacare, TGS seems like the most professional and awesome place to get cannabis products. HOWEVER, This can be misleading to the uninitiated. I had found some nicer places in Denver(KL, Clinic) but they were close and cheap so I had my membership here for a long time. And I would go there at least once a week, often twice. Until I realized it was such a waste because I was using more concentrates and smoking tons of their shitty flower compared to when I would pick up in Denver.

Physicians Preferred Products(PPP): No long detailed stuff here, basically the only shop in Northgleen worth going to. Even then, I'd rather make the drive to better places, esp considering PPP's pricing.
  • Flowers: Inconsistent. When it's good: Above average smell/flavor. Loose trim. Reminds more of homegrown than the mass produced. Average potency.
  • Concentrates: Average. Usually in stock. Small selection.
  • Edibles: Decent selection
  • Medical Products: Small selection, high prices.
  • Price: High, esp for what you get.
  • Staff: Pretty good, not super knowledgeable but acceptable.

I'll sum Pueblo up really easily,
Hashish House - good but might be sold out
The Spot - hit n miss
Maggie's Farm - hit n miss
Greener Side West / Stem Beach - hit n miss
Steel City - you've got to be kidding
Pueblo West Organics - seriously, wtf?
Marisol - one very small step above brick weed. Absolutely pitiful.

Lol ^^^^ Everything i've found in Pueblo was pretty terrible. I don't see how they get away with selling it? I've been growing for like 6(ish) months and grow wayyy better stuff than i've found there. Only 20-30 min drive from the Springs, so I don't know how they compete?

Thank you for posting these helpful reviews Algore, Snaps & Beans. Great idea. Never trusted the reviews on weedmaps. I'll post some reviews of places in the Springs when I have more time to do so.

Yea, I've heard pretty much all bad things about Pueblo, hehe. And I'd love for people to post their own impressions as well. The problem with just about every review, including these, it is so subjective. Ones man's trash and all that, lol. I try to be as fair as possible, although you can tell I have some grudges, lol.

Btw, went to Kind Love again yesterday and yea like Beans said, they have a fucking awesome selection of concentrates. Pricey but awesome.
