Maximum light in a 5 x 5 tent

Hello people.

First off.. I am coming back to vertical growing!

Sorry i cheated on you guys when i bought a reflector, but i have come crawling back.... Anyway

I am just trying to figure out how much light i can run in a 5 x 5 x 7 tent.

My setup would be a vertical cylindrical scrog and 2 lights.

I wanted to run a 1000 at the top, and a 600 at the bottom, but do you think this is too much for the space.... especially the 7 ft height.

I could happily run 2 600s, but i would prefer to run the 1000 and 600 if i could.

Appreciate your answers in advance :)

does not seem like too much light as long as you can manage the heat

Well this would be for winter only, and i am from the UK so i will be able to draw lots of cold air in.

So as long as i can control temps you think that space would be ok? I was just worried about not having enough space to set up a scrog circualr with a 1000.

Out of interest what would you use if running:

2 600s

or 1 600 and 1 1000?

Trying to figure out how big a cage i need.

Thanks guys

I have one 600 watt hps in a 4x4 with a 6" fan at 740 cfm and it still hit 122 degrees bringing in outside air at roughly 60 degrees. So unless you have some cold ass air and a lot of it I dont know how you could run both of those in a tent without an AC unit.

I think humidity would be more of an issue than heat.
I don't run near that wattage but for what I do run i know I could at least double if not triple my wattage and still have no heat issues. I am running 5 plants vertical with screens I have had no heat issue problems, many more problems but no heat, LOL.
I would think two 600's would do the trick for you. Even in a 7 foot tent, over and under 600's with 6 to 8 plants, give yourself room to work on them or make individual screens where you can remove them from the tent to work on them. I like being able to do that.
Good luck on your grow, I'm Subbed!

you could stack 2 x 600`s in cool tube and whack a 1k ontop in a hood

or 2 to 4 x 1000w cob chips, but if you already have hid`s that`ll be cheaper.

What do those 1000W cobs run?
Just paid $160 usd for one posted to the uk

was going to run 4 x 200w 50v drivers and see how it does, the producer says they can take 4 x 50v @ 5amp maybe he said 6amp will look that up but I was going to try 4 x 50v 4amp drivers 1st

I got 4 x 300w cob chips last year for about 100 usd posted, rigged up 2 x 3000k`s and 1 x 5000k with 2 x 340w drivers threw them in a cool hood, there doing well, less heat than a 600 hps in a cool tube, very easy to aim, I`m using them as a side light for a 2m wide area around 2 plants deep using 30 to 60L coco sacks

it put my temps up by 5c or so coming into winter here now I was hoping for a bit more, moved the lamp around 1m away seems to be somewhere between a 600hps and a 1000mh for light output

but I am looking forward to putting together a one chip 800w/1000w light when that chip gets here

best thing is it has screw terminals so I just need to bolt or glue it to a heatsink no soldering :)

Thanks guys.

Decided to run 2 600s.

Only thing is no one mentioned is the diameter of the cage needed for 2 600s.

What size cage do you think i would need?

This is for a true barebulb, without a cool tube.

Also please can you reply in diameter, and not radius\distance from plant to bulb.

Cheers guys i really appreciate the help :)

You should consider individual screens. Much easier to work on your plants, the plants can be move toward or away from the lamps and if needed can be placed on blocks to even any height difference between plants.
I modified this from a design I found on another site. They hold a 2 or 3 gallon Smart Pot so you can adjust your design for the size pots you will be using. I am running straight Canna coco in a two gallon pot now.

Screen is 40 x 18 inches, total height is 50 inches. Can give you measurements if you would like.

This shows the handle I added to make it easier to move them around.
