Background info:

Third grow. Last grow I ran into issues part way through and got this tent and light from a friend. Last grow I ended up with 90grams dried of smokable bud or 0.67g/watt. Another 10-15g of trim and scraps. The amount of space I have is 5 square feet or 18g/sqft.

Goal:

Considering the problems I had my last grow and I am already on a better path this grow I am trying to raise my yield to 4 oz in this space. We'll round up to 115g or 0.85g/watt or 23g/sqft. I know there are more efficient ways to calculate that include kilowatt hours that also take into account total time but that complicates it a little too far for me :bigjoint:

Current Grow:
Started with 5 seeds. Kept the 2 plants that I liked the most which were the bushiest and fastest growing. These two also had really purple and pink colored leaf stems. Only problem so far is I accidentally snapped a branch clean off. The plants were really drinking water and had become a little dry and the branch was way more stiff in that spot than I though and broke it really bad when tying it down and decided to trim it completely off and let other growth take its place.

Other than that everything is really green. One plant became stressed in one spot when it was topped for some reason.

Plants were flipped 12/5. I probably will not feed them until at least 12/14 unless they show signs of deficiency. Going to try to feed as little as possible.

Pictures
12/2 Snapped the branch, LSTd, watered. These ladies are thirsty and tied down and not looking their best here. I wanted to see how quick she would recover from the snap.

12/6 Day 2 12/12 Huge difference in 4 days. Looking much better and can hardly tell I snapped one of their heads off :weed:

Calmag has always been my purple stems . Leaf stems purple no big deal purple main stems I'd boost nutes a little.

Can also be caused by cold temps, the glucose the plant makes can move slower when its cold which makes purple stems.

Could be either honestly. Some nights have dropped to low 60s. Since everything else is healthy I'm not going to do anything crazy. I've read its either cal-mag or phosphorous but not to act too drastically unless there are other signs.

Will most likely add some of the Micro from AN's line which has some cal-mag in it.

Will the purple go away if it is in fact a deficiency?

Thanks for stopping by!

Day 16 12/12

Right plant stretching a little more but both slowing down a little and flowering more now.

They liked the nutrients I gave them. Will probably feed them a little tomorrow because I go out of town for a week and will have to use the automatic watering for a few days.

Pictures always turn out worse than anticipated. I'll make sure to improve the quality when she starts flowering up more.

Day 8 12/12

Does anyone know why the stems are so purple? Assuming genetic since everything else is so healthy.

Quick response to flip. Everything is healthy after a tiny tiny first feed.

That's genetic purple striping...n probably some cooler temps helped it to exhibit this trait...a deficiency or toxicity purpling would b diff...I've had the exact same purpling on several plants...and im always happy if and when I see a plant do this... because in my experience it means Dank....

Stripes are usually signs of things to come in my experience. Cold temps can bring on lock outs of phosphorus and cal mag I believe as well. Purpling can also be genetic but you won't know unless you've run this pheno a couple times. If your using an GMB use 2ml per l every other watering if in soil. Hydro I usually go 1 to 1.5 as nutes are constantly available to the plant. Looks good either way I'm sure the Purpling won't have a drastic effect on your run tbo. Around week 7 I'm looking to get Purpling usually as that's where I begin to drop nutrient levels as the plant is finishing. Good luck bro.

Day 28 12/12

Back from vacation and happy to announce all went well, the wick system worked! They have started to really flower now. Should be getting some solid sized colas. Leaves could be very frosty by the end.

Right plant seems a few days ahead which I thought would be the longer one the way it stretched.

Were fed 8ml / gal of AN's GMB of each last night and seemed to love it.

Day 42 12/12

Really starting to bud up. The last pic is of a giant cola over a foot long. The plant issue is still just in one part but its not spreading and looks like damage is done . I've fed them 6ML of GMB once and given them pure water once, will give them pure water or small nutes tomorrow.

Biggest thing I guess is I see big progress each week

I've had issues with purple stems also using an led light. I believe there is so much light that the plant uses more cal/mag to photosynthesis all that light. I tried multiple things to remedy. Switching light source, feed, temps and only thing that really worked was the light source.

I think I'm having more cal/mag problems too in the areas that get the most light. If you also look closely the edge of the leaves at the tops of the colas are starting to turn purple and same with the leaf tips that burnt a little. Its purple not the brown color.

Day 50 12/12

I'm still not sure what the problem is in that part of the plant. Its not at the top or bottom. Its like the largest fan leaves in the middle are effected.

My main guesses are light burn or potassium def now. I don't really think it's light burn because those spots are about 15-20 inches from the light and it isn't that strong of a light to begin with, but they are right under the light doing a lot of work. I also turned the light down to 90%. The reason I think its potassium now is because I haven't given them too much K yet and they have really started to flower.

Any ideas?

I gave them 6.5 filtered water two days ago and will give them nutes today with half micro and grow and 1.5 bloom which has more K.

Otherwise the other half of that plant and the other plant is doing really well. It doesn't seem to really change the yield on the parts that look damaged.

I really upped the calmag for two feedings in a row though and it didn't seem to get better or slow the damage.

I'm thinking it could also be a problem i had 2-3 weeks ago and its just now showing the full damage. I had let them run really dry for a day by accident so maybe that was it?

They get a full feeding in a few hours when lights turn on.
