IMHO this is BS. Tipical BBC straight up lies. Mad propergander. I'd bet it was way bellow 29%. I think the whole debate is BS, weed is not getting stronger. Why are companies like Greenhouse going "Strain hunting": http://www.strainhunters.com/index1.htm for older strains? The truth is people used to get shit.

yeah it kinda turns u into a weed snob cuz nothing compares to cheese but after a good while its nice to smoke something difrent, good haze or white widow but even they aint as powerfulll a smoke lol.

Quasar Haze from barneys contains something like 28% THC, very very powerful. There are a lot of buds other than cheese which are so much stronger in Amsterdam, thats where all the experts are right. My favourite is Cheese, but Its all about haze in Amsterdam and itll fuck you up believe.

And exactly who verifies any of these numbers. How is THC calibrated? Is everyone using the same methodology?

It's mostly marketing, like any other business.

i think its some major piece of chemistry kit for measuring the chemical parts of a given element i forget the name of the machine but they cost a packet even to use one.

mostly just marketing bollocks

I can just see a seed company making up the labels now.

How much THC % should we put down..... (everybody stops and tokes some of the strain)....man, put down 25% that'll bring them running...

It's been that way for years now. Most know that these numbers mean nothing. Hell, strain names means little to nothing.

Gentlemen, what that man was growing was Cheese. I've mentioned it before on this site, and the smell is stronger than your average carbon filter can handle. There's loads of it in England. There's another batch in in a couple of weeks. Also we'll soon be getting a few cuttings of this magical plant...

Long live the cheese...
LOL I have the UK cheese and it is not 29% thc. Remember that this is the police saying this cannabis is the strongest ever. THe same police who say that a grow op is worth millions of dollars

With the difference in growing techniques and technology, it seems impossible that weed couldn't be much stronger now than it was back in the day, regardless of what old school smokers 'remember' from 30 years ago.

A man has admitted growing what police described as the strongest cannabis ever found in the UK.

David Wyler, 55, of Poplar Avenue, Nottingham, admitted producing cannabis and possessing the drug as well as possessing amphetamines.
Tests on 500 cannabis plants seized at a house in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, showed they were the strongest ever found in the UK, Derby Crown Court was told.

Police believe he made £500,000 out of drugs. Wyler will be sentenced later.
The house in Ilkeston was entirely given over to producing cannabis plants, the hearing was told.

Test carried out by forensic scientists on the plants showed the THC content, a measure of the drug's strength, was 29%. The normal reading for cannabis is 12%.
Police seized £30,000, which was in the possession of Wyler, along with three cars.

Back in the 60s and early 70s, there was weed around that had the effect of mescaline. Talk about a very slow cartoon world ... zowie!

Vi
I agree...some of the smoke in late 70's-early 80's, your just not going to find that buzz today...it has nothing to do with tolerance, it was just asskickin weed. 4 hour highs...and cotton mouth like peanut butter and saw dust... and trippin like mesc. I agree 100% .
I guess it depends where you lived then...I was in Clarkston,MI ...good weed was never a problem.

The best I ever smoked was Thai stick that came out of San Francisco in 1975. One toke shit and you didn't want no more for hours. I smoked a lot more weed then than now. High dollar shit now days isn't any better than the high quality shit of those days, in fact like I said I have haven't smoked anything like that since. Not saying there isn't good stuff nowadays, but I would love to get my hands on some more of that!

Cheese?? i dont know the strain..
im from belgium.. next to holland. anyone recall amsterdam..
Best strains i know are amnesia haze and NLX special

Ok in most big coffee shops the average thc level is mentioned on the price boards..
most weed nowadays goes from 15 to 20% and some strains esealy up to 25% or more..
If you want higher percentages you need hashies..
Those are average tested levels.. (and have been tested for years) No messing with.. dont forget that cannabis is the most studied plant of all the plants on earth..
And Weed is indeed getting stronger believe it or not.. It has been highly over cultivated for at least the last 60 years.. what do you expect..

so the statement by the UK police
"Test carried out by forensic scientists on the plants showed the THC content, a measure of the drug's strength, was 29%. The normal reading for cannabis is 12%."
Normal reading 12%???? havent these guys been to a coffee shop once before making such statements? apparently not..

Because it is very rare to find a pure indica or sativa nowadays, most plants are hybrids already although labelled one of the 2...
When you get back to the basic genes it makes it far more easier to cultivate the way you want it to go..
thats why..

I was at a party in 1988. One of my friends was this very fine girl who sometimes let a drug dealer hang out with her. His name was Fat Larry and he carried his merchandise in a cigar box. Eventually Fat Larry passed out in the corner and we talked Rachael into raiding his box for a fatty. She reached for the box and he immediately woke up, opened in the box and pulled out a joint for her, which we smoked.

It was not long before people's faces were melting.

I have never been that high since that party and I have smoked some pretty good shit in the intervening years. Shit that made you giggle like a schoolgirl; shit that made you feel like you were floating; even shit that turned you into a fucking rock. But I never saw anyone's face melt again.
