Main-Lined Critical Kush x2 - Coco - 600w Grow

Although I'm nearly 6 weeks into flowering, I thought I might as well start a grow journal so that I can reference back to it during my next grow. This is my first try, and I'm pretty happy with it so far.

The details:

2 x Critical Kush by Barney's Farm
100% coco coir
600w (MH for veg, HID for flower)
General Hydroponics Nutes (Lucas 6/9 Formula) with tap water
Started using GH Liquid Koolbloom in week 4 of flower
Started in solo cups, transplanted to 5G smart pots

I put the seeds into wet paper towel on Oct. 6. On the morning of Oct. 9, they popped, and I planted them in solo cups of straight coco. I read a lot about not providing any nutes (many said not even in coco) until the second true set of leaves grew, and so I didn't. I saw them struggle and barely grow, yet I was afraid to provide any nutes because of everything I was reading online. Eventually I decided that it wasn't working and common sense told me they needed something to grow on, so I started with a 1/4 strength nute solution, and voila. Growth!

I don't have many pics from early on, because...those are boring. But I decided to mainline them right from the get-go, and so here are some pics of the main-lining from early on to when I flipped them to 12/12. I vegged them a total of almost 2 months...partly because of the ridiculously slow growth they experienced at first:

Before being topped:

Topped for 2 mains:

Topped for 8 mains (apparently I didn't take pics of topping for 4):

A few shots in veg:

Flipped to 12/12 on Dec.5:

14 days 12/12 (trimmed up a lot of the understory):

21 days 12/12 (the plants are developing very differently...noticeably different foliage/cola development):

28 days 12/12:

38-39 days 12/12:
jan12.jpgjan12d.jpgjan12e.jpgjan15.jpg

And a few more from today...just to show the difference between the two plants. One has big colas that rise above the foliage, and the other...not so much. I mean, there's growth under as well, but they look very different. Wondering if it's a different pheno that just grows differently or if it's kind of a dud? I suppose time will tell:

Awesome plants man! I'm pretty new to growing so I just started researching about mainlining. Nice to see it actually work, I'm excited to see how ur babes turn out. Keep this journal up!

We can't go in there all straight-eyed...he'll know something's up.

Excellent job!
I'm subbed and ready to see what a beauty she is at harvest.

I need to update mine with a few pictures, I'll probably do it tomorrow.

subbd, lovely grow drude m8 im thinking about going to coco 1 day
Coco is the only way to go unless you can get your hands on supersoil.

If you do end up main lining scrog it would probably be so long a veg time that you would probably be better off with main line and lots of training

Since this is my first grow, I only know growing in coco...but it seems pretty foolproof so far! The only thing is, I water/feed every damn day...and so it's probably more labor intensive than some other mediums, I'm guessing. But since I'd be looking at the plants anyway, the mixing and watering only takes an extra 5 minutes per day. No biggie :)

Yeah I'm coco all the way...closest thing to hydro.. but not as many ph buffers as soil .. so I would recommend using a meter...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you are to feed coco when the coco starts to become dry because I ran coco for the first time on my last grow and that's what I did. Dam, to feed everyday would kill me. Lol

I did a lot of research, and people were saying that if you waited to let it dry out, it would cause concentrated deposits of nutrients to accumulate. But if you watered every day with some runoff (I probably water with 25% runoff...maybe a little excessive), this shouldn't really be a problem. Also...makes it more like hydro, which allows for more vigorous growth. Or something. Then again, I have nothing to compare it to, so take what I say with a grain of salt :)

oh okay, but dam that's a lot of water/nutes to be used in coco. But then again I guess that's why my veg coco plant is so small compared to my veg plants in aeroponics wich are growing like weeds....

My tent is 10x5 half coco the other side will be my rdwc.

I feed mine everyday and twice during the grow I allow it to dry up. Mainly during transitions. Right before my flip, and at week 4, before the weight and stacking ... I do this but make the feeding once they're dry you Have to pour slowly..
