I think legalizing them for recreational use in the states is a ways off yet. I do see the mushrooms application in the health/medical field upcoming in the near future. Like cannabis, mushrooms will begin with a legalized medical clearance. They are a wondrous helper for the journey, I see them having a revolutionary impact in our mental health field in the upcoming future.

for the record ive seen excessive shroom use cause permeant severe mental problems in people
I think any psychedelic can have the potential to cause temporary psychotic episodes. But prolonged mental disorders I would say were there latently, just not obvious, and maybe the psychedelic brought it out, but it would have begun showing itself anyway.

In using mushrooms for healing, one wouldn't use shrooms excessively. If you did, it would be very minimal doses, barely noticeable doses, for daily use, which would help with whatever symptoms and issues you were struggling with. Sessions where you do heavy trips can be very helpful, but obviously if you're doing it over and over without time for the body/mind/spirit to restabilize, you could push yourself into some deeper waters.
