Made a sticky tar substance... work in vape pen?

A year or two ago I took a bunch of bud, ground it, and steeped it in everclear for a couple weeks. Then I strained out the leaf and solid material and let it sit on a cookie tray for way too long--the alcohol evaporated under a fan and I was left with a really sticky greenish tar.

I don't yet have a vape pen, but I was wondering if this would have a chance of working in an oil vape pen (which I don't yet have)? Everyone is focused on BHO for them, but this seems like a much safer option for producing a concentrate. Am I missing something here? Will this work??

No. It'll be harsh as hell and taste bad. Really bad...like smoking leaves you raked up from your yard.

Try, if you can tolerate it, try to swallow 1/4 teaspoon of it. It'll turn your tongue green... You might try filling a little capsule and swallowing that.

Be ready however, the buzz is nothing like smoking it. It'll last a few hours and it's almost all body, little head buzz.

I don't vape much but I've make good concentrate with Everclear by using keif only. I use a fine mesh bubble bag not sure which size of screen it has but I just throw in some buds/trim and shake over mirror while beating the bag with a stick. Scrape keif off the mirror and place in jar of Everclear. I just shake jar and let soak for a few hrs and then coffee filter it onto a plate and let dry. Nice clear amber chunks you can scrape off and add to a bowl for a bigger hit. This way you avoid any green or leaf crap in your smoke.

By the time you're done making the keif, you could just smoke or vape it.

Seems like the Everclear is kind of a waste of time. It might purify the keif a bit more, but keif is mostly trichs, very little plant matter.

In fact the plant matter might add a bit of flavor to the keif, but whatever...to each his own.

There are definitely pens out there for thicker oil. I am trying to figure out how to thin down a honey oil enough to fill a vape pen.
Here are the issues. You will probably need a bigger or variable voltage battery for thicker substances.(at least 650). It will tend to clog or wear out clearomizers faster. You can put it into a cartomizer since they are cheap and you can just throw it away. You could just dab it on an atomizer a hit or two at a time. The bottom coils are probably better for thicker oil. As far as taste goes, there are flavorings on the market that are just a few bucks. You could just add your favorite flavor and you are good to go. The flavors sometimes need to steep before they taste good. So take off the lid for a day to release the alcohol then put the lid back on and put it away in a dark place for a week. Open it up now and then and give it a good shake. You will need to warm up your oil to blend in the flavoring. The flavorings are very strong so start with just a drop or 2.

A few brands to look at for reasonably priced pens are the Kanger evod2. I have that and it is very nice for the price. But it does come with a clearomizer so you may want to But you may just want to get the pen that has an adapter for wax. Try to get one with 510 threads. That is the most universal threading at the moment. Hope that helps.

interesting, but the OP has "a sticky tar substance", not a clear golden brown substance like honey oil. Honey oil is nearly pure thc. His oil is loaded with chlorophyll. Vaping it would create a very harsh smokey vapor with a burnt leaves taste and smell. Been there...done that.

What I'd like to know is if there's any way to remove the chlorophyll and leave the thc? Probably not, but if anyone knows, feel free to chime in.

I found a great thread under concentrates that is called shatter E-Cig oil yes it works. These guys seem very knowledgeable. I believe you could winterize your stash to clean it up. Mine is not winterized but very clean. You can look that up but basically you are freezing the mixture and then re-straining it and the foreign materials solidify and you can filter them out. I have also heard of others who have blown out the bud when making bho and they just rolled the adulterated oil in shake re-loaded and it came out perfect.

Cheers

Mine comes out like clear amber honey oil and zero chlorophyll. Great to smoke and zero harshness!
