Three weeks veg. Time to flip. 2700k at 12/12. (130w CFL)

Plants are going well except for the one on the left that seems to have some problems. I re-poted yesterday as a precaution. Something I will need to keep an eye on next time as I noticed that the peat seed raising container had not broken away as well as they do normally. This ment that the soil in the peat container was damper than i would hope and the roots were not down into fresh soil. Could this be due to 24 hr light cycle? I understand the roots grow better in the dark period? Still in the same pot but plain Kelpmix soil with some ash and coals. No chicken poop etc or time release ferts. See if she recovers.
I also added some Epson to their water. All plants have had no additional ferts in their watering so far. May add some Seasol during the week.

Gday Tom.

Its a 130w CFL. It uses a different socket. You can buy them on Ebay or Hydro stores. (something like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/201200098959?lpid=107&chn=ps )

Espom salt is useful in getting Magnesium. The plant on the left in the last pic seemed to be suffering from Mag deffency (and maybe something else.. which is why i re-poted)

Hot refers to how much fertilizer is in the soil in this case.

Glad you like my little grow!

Edit: just got back from the Hydro store and the guy there recons im going to get problems with my soil mix,. Not an "if" but a "will"....mmmmmm...I'll ride it out and see.

Timers suck!

Ive had an issue with my two mechanical timers. Not shutting the power off or not turning on. lesson is dont buy cheap timers. These were two for $10 and are fkd.

Hope its to early to effect anything major.

I have now bought an electronic timer an have found programming the thing a nightmare..Anyways, i think i have got there in the end...fingers crossed.Ill hook it all up in a minute and see if the lights turn on in 8 hrs.

Plants are looking good and healthy so far, ill post an updated pic in a couple of days.

That is for 4. You can find them for under $50Aus each if you look. This isnt a bad deal, you may find better if you spend some time looking http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HYDROPONICS-CFL-REFLECTOR-ENERGY-SAVING-GROW-LIGHT-WITH-HANGER-AND-ADAPTER-COMBO-/151784123910?var=&hash=item235709ee06:m:munmqj5mVlTNI4_z-5PODOw

Led should indeed work better but they normally have to be to far away from the canopy for micro grows.
Will may chime in here if he sees this post with his thoughts?

Two weeks since the flip and 5 weeks all up.

Have had some leaf curl with the plant on the right. I put an 1/8th of an aspirin in all the water wells so hopefully that will stop. I have had some neut burns on all plants, not enough to worry about though, just some tips. Plant on the left that suffered early is behind and has been struggling. Still soldering on though. Been fairly trouble free and low maintenance so far. Looks like ive sorted the timer issue that was giving me grief.

pH your water, if you doing it ok, and maybe to much water, halfway down is too wet and halfway up way too dry, root's need moisture and halfway up is none, so bottom dry to quick and you have to water to often very minor nutrients burned as I see pics, and i see signs of hot temperatures leaves curling up at the tip .

I live on one of the cleanest islands on Earth with arguably the cleanest air (its used to rate the worlds air) and arguably the cleanest rain water on Earth. A smaller island to the North sells its rain water. I believe its the most expensive bottled water in the world. http://www.cloudjuice.com.au/Home.html. Evian eat ya heart out!!
I get this for free as it falls on my roof and into my water tank. So i dont bother PHing my water. Its as good as Nature can provide with no additives except maybe a touch of calcium and lime from my concrete water tank. Dont forget im growing in soil and soil does buffer PH a bit to.

I think there was an over watering problem on the plant to the left due to the seedling peat tub not breaking away as well as they do out doors but its fine now. Im wondering if thats because of running the lights 24 hrs and no darkness for proper root growth??? Im using self watering Pots so i cannot over or under water.

Couldnt possibly have any heat stress as its never gotten over 30c and is normally 15-25c. And as you can see from the pics the light is not to close either. Im not sure why i got leaf curl. Perhaps some stress when the timers crapped themselves? Im not sure if i had it before then..maybe i did..im not sure what other causes it could be? The apsirin has helped it though,

Yes, i do have some nute burns on the leaves. Nothing major.I normally do get that as i run pretty hot soil.

Plants have really stretched last couple of days.

Edit: Out of interest i did just go and PH my tap water. Pretty much perfect at 6.6.

Pollution start in China and travel the world so your rain water can be affect by that, cause rain clean the air, 6.6 PERFECT, but if you Google concrete tubes or reservoir cause pH alkaline. I only said that cause leafs are little yellow or pale, time can prove me wrong. Anyway your plants I'll grow flower and become buds of high quality.
Happy grow

The leaves are not as dark as some ive seen thats for sure. But in saying that they do come out paler in the pics than they are in real life. It may be the 2700k CFL globe doing that?
And Thank You, I hope they so give some nice quality buds to!.lol. If the system works I have a couple of ICE seeds from Midweek song (Royal Queen Seeds) to Scrog.

What else besides heat can cause leaf curl? Any idea?

Could the fan blowing directly onto a plant cause leaf curl?

Ima thinking its just the high nutrient soil content.

pics so far. As of the 30/7. Coming along well i think at 15 days old.
That's fucking bad ass man. You could have a veg box up top and a flower box down below! Forgive me if that was already your plan, as I didn't read through the whole thread, or know how far along you've taken it with lighting. But, I think you could add a lot more wattage in there of cfls.
