Lotion for HS/Skin Diseases?

Hi everyone...
I'm trying to gather some info about hash oil as a topical or any other way to apply Cannabinoids to the infected area. I suffer fro a rare disease of the skin called Hidradentitis Suppurativa . It's an autoimmune disease that affects the apocrine sweat glandshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apocrine_sweat_glands or sebaceous glands, such as the underarms, breasts, inner thighs, groin and buttocks. It's very painful and no matter how careful I am (multiple hand washes while changing bandages, antibiotic cream, colloidal silver...) it always seem to get a secondary infection and the sinus tracts get larger

Anyway, after seeing Rick Simpson's hemp oil documentary and how it helped people with skin cancer, I don't see why it wouldn't help...
Thanks.

Apples. . .oranges.

This kind of thing burns my ass. Just because cannabis has SOME medical application, doesn't mean it can treat anything!

Even stipulating purely for the sake of argument that cannabis actually can help with skin cancer (and bluntly, IMO its BS; for that application hemp oil = snake oil), why should you assume it would help with hidradenitis suppurativa which is an inflammatory disorder utterly unrelated to cancer?

Smoking the buds will probably make you feel better, but I strongly doubt that rubbing the extract on the surface of your skin is going to help treat the underlying disease.

If you want to try cannabis therapy for this, I'd suggest EATING hemp oil/hemp seeds for their essential fatty acids.

At least that might change the composition of your skin secretions in a way that might reduce inflammation.

Well, you know what "burns my ass" smart pants???
Idiots like you!
Cannabis DOES reduce inflammation and THAT is the reason why it could help!
Also, get your medical facts right! Eating something will NOT "change the composition of your skin secretions in a way that might reduce inflammation...

I couldn't care less that you smoke just to get high or whatever it is you like to do, but when someone with a REAL medical condition that is incurable comes to ask help or advice for medicating cuz that person has become desperate enough for a solution that he's even willing to try spreading cannabis concentrates on his skin, it's NOT FUNNY!

Have you made a lotion or salve from a heat-treated extract and tried it? Cannabinoids are brilliantly soluble in fats like lard ... make an oinkment. Bakin' fat. I once had good results with a topical oil application to soothe a burn. cn

Admittedly, I was deliberately oversimplifying for you (see below), but you better believe that dietary fatty acid content IS a major player in regulation of inflammation. Here are a few references for your consideration, "doctor":

http://tohtoritolonen.fi/files/pdf/Calder_2006.pdf

As you might know, hemp seeds are a particularly rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids.
http://slu.adam.com/content.aspx?productId=107&pid=33&gid=000316

Research shows that omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and may help lower risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and arthritis. Omega-3 fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain and appear to be important for cognitive (brain memory and performance) and behavioral function. In fact, infants who do not get enough omega-3 fatty acids from their mothers during pregnancy are at risk for developing vision and nerve problems. Symptoms of omega-3 fatty acid deficiency include fatigue, poor memory, dry skin, heart problems, mood swings or depression, and poor circulation.

It is important to have the proper ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 (another essential fatty acid) in the diet. Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation, and most omega-6 fatty acids tend to promote inflammation. The typical American diet tends to contain 14 - 25 times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids, which many nutritionally oriented physicians consider to be way too high on the omega-6 side.
Now, since you seem to be a bit unclear on this, you probably ought to know that hidradenitis suppurativa is NOT actually an "autoimmune disease". That's because its not lymphocyte mediated, nor is it related to self-antigen attack, the same way true autoimmune disorders like lupus, multiple sclerosis, etc, are. The best current theory on its etiology is that its caused by hair follicle occlusion, which subsequently causes an inflammatory response, cyst development, etc.

My suggestion was that improving your dietary fatty acid content might change the makeup of your sebaceous gland secretions, helping to prevent follicular occlusion. If there is a secondary effect of muting the associated inflammatory response, that's a plus too. Now, again, I'M NOT claiming that this will definitely work; I'm just saying its theoretically possible.

But feel free to ignore me; obviously, I'm an "idiot" and I don't have a clue what I'm talking about. You just stick with the guy who claims that that hemp oil cures metastatic cancer!

but when someone with a REAL medical condition that is incurable comes to ask help or advice for medicating cuz that person has become desperate enough for a solution that he's even willing to try spreading cannabis concentrates on his skin, it's NOT FUNNY!
You see me laughing?

You want to know what's REALLY "not funny"?

That's when half-assed quacks who don't know a sebocyte from a prostaglandin (and I'm not pointing at you here) make wild-eyed claims about cannabis having magical properties in curing cancer, etc. Then truly sick people, who don't necessarily have a sophisticated understanding about what is wrong with them (now I'm looking at you), and who may really have life-threatening diseases, follow fundamentally unsound "medical" advice out of desperation.

Guess what. . .cannabis has been around for 10,000 years, and its legal or de facto legal in many parts of the globe. If cannabis extracts really could cure cancer, don't you think that would be well-established by now? If this were actually true, wouldn't it be trivial to prove, and in fact, have been proven already years ago?

Yes, as you say, its true that cannabis contains an anti-inflammatory compound. But said compound works on receptors in the BRAIN. Reference HERE:
http://www.rsc.org/chemistryworld/News/2008/June/24060801.asp

Again, I don't see how rubbing the stuff on the outside of your skin is going to do much for you in the way of reducing inflammation. Again, if topical cannabis had significant anti-inflammatory effect, that would also be well established already.

But that's OK. . .Feel free to try it and let us know how it works. Apart from making you smell like weed, I doubt it will hurt you.

You know when you are in a bar and you see a gorgeous girl and you think to yourself "man! It'd be great if she'd come over here and ask me to fuck her on the spot". You know it's not gonna happen, but you'd like it to.
I guess I'll just put some honey on it then :P

I seen a video a couple years back with marc emery experimenting with some marijuana lotion. He said there was an ounce packed into one bottle.

P.s, sounds like somebody didn't get laid today ^ haha

Hi I just registered today. Saw your post last year and have since been trying to manage my HS with cannabis. Would like to private discuss with U results with maybe using RSOil?

You actually need a higher post count to private message someone, so I'll tell what I did to make my HS more bearable.
Well what I did that helped the most, was to quit smoking altogether. So now I vape my weed 99.5% of the time (very scientific analysis here) and I only use my eGo ecig when I feel like smoking. Which much rarer like after work and when I go out.
It seems to have reduced the number of flares I have a lot! I do get some buttons in my face once in a while but not full blown cysts like I used to.

What I also do, just for fun, as I really don't know if it helps, but when I go in the grow room (in flower), I get a bunch of oil on my hands and I usually rub it on the affected area(s).
Good luck and I hope this helps,
SunnyHours.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to pipe in.... I'm 29, have had hs since I was 11. I have a lot of scarring, but have thankfully only developed one sinus tract.
I tried RSO, and you know what? After 5 days, that thing healed. I went off after a couple weeks to give my oil to a loved one diagnosed with cancer. She needed it more than I did. A few days after stopping, the tract opened up again, and was just as painful as ever. When I was able, I got back on the oil, and again, within 5 days, it closed up.

Anyone else can say or speculate whatever they want, but I know that this is what enabled my wound to heal. I've tried all sorts of antibiotics, Accutane, multiple surgeries, supplements, herbs..... but RSO did it.

I'm not saying I'm cured, because I still have some tender cysts, but nothing like an open tract or oozing wound. I was keeping my wound (which was right where my undies constantly rubbed) bandaged. And I'm sure anyone that suffers from HS can relate to the adhesive burn I would get- tearing off what healthy skin surrounded the wound.

Applying the oil topically didn't seem to help much. Also, I only take a very small amount of the oil, because too much and my anxiety is through the roof!

Good luck, and if you have good results, please holler back at me!

ETA- I use the oil orally. About the size of the tip of a pen. Again, for those that don't have heightened anxiety when using cannabis, maybe a larger dose would work better for those with more advanced HS, but it's not an option for me. Plus, the smaller dose does very well.
