Hi guys, I'm looking for some information on those who have created or tried to create their own Seed Bank in Canada. Seed Bank being, either a reseller of seeds or developing their owns strains to sell and export. I have lots of experience with the growing aspect, although, I am located in Canada and do not 100% understand the legality of creating a Seed Bank here.
I have seen many Seed Banks located in Canada, mainly in the British Columbia area. However, after reading The Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, one new line 8 in Schedule II stood out to me which was recently added in 2014 (Harpers doing). It states "No Non–viable Cannabis seed, with the exception of its derivatives". What does this mean exactly?
I have also seen some Seed Banks advertise their seeds as novelty items for collection or historic/educational value. But, would this really protect you if the Government was gunning for your business? Some news reports have stated that selling them within Canada can also protect you. Anyway there are many unclear legal issues I want to understand before proceeding, hopefully those that have created a Seed Bank in Canada will inform me a bit on this. Looking forward to responses.
