and seing that im growing larger plants I better stick to mh mabey give those deMH a shot
The double ended also help with the stretch since they have light in the 600'snm along with a pretty full lower spectrum so its a gentler transition on your plants when you switch them to hps

Go with Par420's or DE 6 or 1k your choice. Best most efficient lights hands down if you don't wanna build Cob's

I cant figure out why people still veg under MH.
I guess that depends on what you are comparing. MH vs 6500k COB will give similar results and use less power on the COB, but HPS or warm white (2700-3500k) COB won't come close to replicating the bushy results of 6500k range (MH) light.

MH for the win. I like the blue ice 5500 myslef. Closest thing to the hortilux blue and half the price.

To the above poster..if you "can't believe people still veg under MH" what exactly are you vegging under? Pictures?

For years T8s and T12s. LED now. I cant seem to upload pics now. I m tryin. As soon as this site lets me download. I got the pics! Or I got pics over in the if your new to led thread! I just turn down blues/turn reds up on the K5 and flip switch for the reds on the A51s.

Only way I would consider MH/HPS would be commercial setting. That's if I couldn't get the AT600s to fill the space. But small to midrange grows its quality LED panels all day and twice on sunday!

Not sure where you got the idea that T5s lead to lower electric bills, but they're less efficient than metal halides, considerably so actually...

T5s have a maximum lumen per watt ratio of around 100. Metal Halides can get around 115 or 120, and have greater penetration.
Wellllllllll.....they only pull just over 400 watts compared to the 1000 watt option the op was considering. So by having two next to each other your pulling only like 850 watts and covering more room than a 1000 watt would. Also they fire slower and draw less quickly on a breaker box than a 1000 watt. That has nothing to do with efficency but it can be a good thing if the breaker box is tripping because its full. And bro, you dont have to tell me about penetration and all that jazz. I run de lights just like every other sealed room pro out there.

A 600w hps would still be better than the T5s.

I know I am just a no one when it comes to knowing anything, lol, but I went with the 4 foot 8 bulb T5's from Apollo.
I freaking love them too, they do produce heat within a couple of feet too, was really suprised...Here is the info I read that lead me to my purchase...

Some silly marketing. T5 has it's place, but, IMHO it's either as side lighting or as supplemental to a HID or LED. 95lm/w can't compete well with 150lm/w.

I am not with them in any way sir, and I did start off by saying I know nothing and am no one, lol, I am sure, and I mean that, you are way more qualified to answer, I was just pulling from the info that sold me on that system, I am new though, they just seem to be everything I will need for some time, when I am in some kind of experimental grower expert status I will try new shit, but then again, why would I change anything with what is not broken, who's too say....seems legit enough stat sheet too me, I own 2 of them and they seem as though I will not need anything for lighting for a long time, no bulbs, no bs, and a low bill....
