Looking for a little advice.

Hi everyone!

I just got out of the military (honorable) and was diagnosed while in with a benign tumor in my right foot that pushes on my medial plantar nerve. Tendinitis in my right foot and ligament separation. Although this doesn't cause excruciating pain, it does cause a good amount towards the end of the work day if i'm on my feet. I would love to "legally" light one up:bigjoint:. Do you guys think this is enough to grab a card? If so would i have to go through another evaluation? I really don't feel like paying for more x-rays and all that shit. But will if i have to.

Also, i don't really care what kind of doctor i go too i just don't want to look like a dumbass when i ask him if he will recommend me. One more thing what is a proper way of telling the doctor you want to use mmj for your pain. LOL.

Thanks

Btw i live in the Yakima area.

Ok do you have two years or so of records indicating that you are dealing with "chronic" or "recurring" pain? If not start making an occasional appointment and when they ask the reason for your visit, explain the issue you were diagnosed with and you deal with a lot of pain during days where you have to work on your feet. If you have no insurance an adjustable fee clinic will do.

Now if your records already indicate recurring/chronic pain and ya got records going back at least a year and a half (preferably two years) you are set. You will need to have those records faxed or bring them in yourself to a Cannabis Advocate Doctor who will in turn likely agree that Cannabis would be a helpful medication. In fact some VA center's have a cannabis advocate doctor, but the whole VA approval of medical Cannabis is relatively a recent thing last couple of years. So I don't know too much about that angle.

(Edit: Ah, yakima area sorry didn't see that first time I read this.) Might I ask what region you are from? There are patients here who could likely recommend a good doctor or practice but it helps to know the general area. If you are apprehensive just mention a county and someone can likely help ya from there.

Well thank you very much HippySmoke! Yea Yakima county and very close to Yakima itself. A drive on the other side of the mountains wouldn't kill me but i wouldn't want to be making a trip a month over there. That would be great if anyone knew of any Cannabis Advocate Doctors in the Yakima area.

As far as VA centers having Cannabis Advocate doctors. I didn't know that and will look into it, thanks.

For reference, it is a bit old but: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/27/medical-marijuana-in-va-c_n_660449.html

Now if for some strange reason there aren't any patients that can point ya in the right direction here are a few places to start.

I browsed and saw a couple of reviewed clinic's which are preferable to consider than unreviewed for obvious reasons. Second if you need to go the route of using a "unknown" (for lack of better word) physician such as such off one of these websites research them THOROUGHLY. Finding the right doctor and or practice for your recommendation is ESSENTIAL in the case of legal issues. Little ol' hempfest doctor or something to that degree ain't going to cut it if you end up being scrutinized, trust me. Google is your friend; research on your own on top of any information someone gives you just to be sure. And don't be scared to ask questions when ya call the clinic, as a potential client they are obliged to be honest and forthright. If they are not or if they give you information conflicting with something you personally are sure of, feel free to evaluate another clinic...

Oh and if you can make it out to Lacey (once a year, most licenses require yearly renewal not monthly) I hear a lot of good things about the South Sound's Medical Clinic's. There is a link above, I nor my wife have used them but I personally (not just on RIU) know someone who had a very good experience with them for his initial visit, and a renewal. Plus they offer a online verification system that is quite confidential and secure. Comes in handy when attempting to join a "club" or "co-op" or when attempting to prepare a legal grow site on a rental property. (With permission of course.) Hell there are a number of times a easy mean's of verification can save ya anything from hassle to heartbreak.

I keep meaning to write a guide on finding a doctor for a recommendation or renewal as it's almost time for renewal's at home anyway. This thread is just another subtle reminder. I think it would be nice to have a archived thread with a good guide, amended by the members of RIU.

Sorry I didn't include some of this information in the first place, I think it was later at night when I first replied.
