Been looking at this thing from ebay, looks really cool. Has anyone used one?

Was wondering if this would act as a automated fan speed controller?

It does say to only use with the phresh hyper fans , but has anyone tried to use this with another type of fan?

If there is something else I could look at that's good quality please let me know :-) :-)!!!Thanks guys!Screenshot_2016-11-07-15-15-05-56.png

I had read that some speed controller switches actually turned the fan off and on at a really high rate and sometimes caused damage to fan motors as a result....So that's why I went with the variac switch, instead.

idk, maybe i'm too old school. when i buy lights, i buy the components and wire/build it myself. why not, only takes ten minutes if you're not in a hurry? i plug and play, fuck dimming.

Easy enough to make your own but do not buy a light dimmer! Get a speed controller for a ceiling fan if you're going to DIY one. They sell ready made ones online for $20 - $45 so no need to spend much money if you just have one or two fans to hook-up.
