It's not bad at all, in fact it's better to use both, especially if the flourescent lights are in the 4100k to 6500k range of the light spectrum. Being that the HPS puts out mainly orange-red light 3000k or below.

As far as the distance of the HPS from your two week old plants, first, I'm assuming you have some sort of fan running to keep the grow area air circulating, as for distance I'd keep them at least a foot to 18"or so until they have a few nodes, then place your hand under the lights, if it's to hot for your hand, it's to hot for the plants, this is the usual method to determine the height of the lighting from the HID lamp.

For the flourescents, keep them as close as possible, one or two inches away is the goal. No such thing as to much light, the only caveat is seedlings and clones, they need a bit more distance from the light, some clones prefer indirect light or even shade. But two week old plants are hardy as long as you have good air movement, PH in the proper range, watered properly and well fed, not to mention adequate lighting. Sounds like your well on your way to a nice harvest down the road:)

Hope this info helps you out. Good luck with the grow :peace:
