LED's are far more expensive. That is their biggest draw back. Cfl's will work fine and you can get them in different colors. Stick with cfl's in case you decide growing isn't for you. Harvest day had me wondering if it was for me lol Man it sucks!

yeah looked at cfl , my concern is that i only have around 4 1/2 ft height in grow area . and the last thing i want to do is burn the plants in later stages .

Get a PLL or a T5 fixture. A 2' four bulb fixture will provide better coverage and be a lot cleaner than a bunch of spiral CFL's in Y splitters hanging all over the place.

Just my opinion here.. But a 400 watt HPS/MH setup would be cheaper upfront. I know heat is an issue for you, but with a inline fan blowing through the hood I hardly have a temp issue. Once I figured out I would need some 20+ CLFs to get the same lumens per square foot suggested, the total watts was just under 1000 - that is on top fans etc. Really though it depends on the total square footage of your grow room. You can get nice sets on ebay for decent prices.

LEDS are rather expensive, and as with anything you will need enough to give decent converge to your entire area. LEDS and CLFs from my understanding give smaller yields, but they do have their benefits also.

I had about 20 cfl's hanging when I grew with CFL's. Good crops but CFL's are a pain in the ass Now I use a 400 watt Dual MH/HPS and . works out much better, not so many dam electrical cords running around water

gonna be about 2 n a half square metres , am i am not to concerned about yield as its all for me . the price is not a concern as it will be a very long term project .
