Lighting my grow tent

I have a 60 X 120 X 180 grow tent with a 400w hps light. I'm thinking of getting a 450 full spectrum led light, can anyone tell me if it will be enough for my tent? Thanks

Hi, hps heat is problem, really confined area plus noise really needs to be kept to min so led seems to be the way to go...
LEDs produce heat the same as any other light source.
The benefit of LED is you can get more light per watt but only with super efficient LEDs, anything on ebay/amazon is no more efficient than hps. The 450w full spectrum will likely not be 450w actual watts, so you would be taking a step backwards, providing less light, getting lower quality, less dense buds.

There are some great LEDs we use these days, but they cost more than those cheap "full spectrum" things.
for 60cm x 120cm you can buy a 260w Quantum board kit which will be less heat than your 400w hps because its 2 3rds the power. It will also genuinely create about the same as 500w of hps light wise. So your winning on both heat and light.

Thing is though your probably going to think its expensive in comparison to what you have been looking at. But its a damn good light and will last you many many years.

If that's out of your way price wise I would stick to what you have now, non of those cheap LEDs are going to out perform your HPS.
You would have to match your HPS watt for watt and that means the same heat. At least with HPS you can air cool them.

You mentioned noise, but I'm not sure what you mean? Ballast hum or fan noise because you have to remove heat? If its fan noise, I'm afraid you need a fan to exchange air regardless of how you light you tent. Fans are not just for heat.

Anyhow, thems the facts. :bigjoint:
