are you guys growing in you own house? i wonder how you guys can put 5-6x 1000watt in there and your electric bill don't sky rocket?

i try to put 6x 600HPS + 1x 400MH with pumps and fans and i already MAX out the usually kwh per day!

so 4x 1000watt plus pumps, fans, cooling and your regular consumption(TV, computer, heat etc.......) thats alot of energy man, i thought the electric company has a system monitor the use, if its not reasonable, cops will come and kick the door, how you guys manage to get around this issue?

Why should the electric company report a good costumer who pays the bills on time, and doesn't steel the electric?

Because they can and do.

Yo steviesteve. You gotta put an op like that in a big house....... 4br+

If it were in a studio apartment or a 1 bedroom, then it'll throw up a flag. You have to blend in man.

False. The only time the power company gives LEO information is when LEO has a warrant or is seeking corroborating evidence to obtain one. If that's the case, you are already on their radar anyway. The power company does not just forward increased consumption information to the police. Why would they want to lose a steady revenue stream? Pay your bill on time, and keep a low profile and you have nothing to worry about.

You say "false"... and then go on to describe how they do exactly what I said they do. Nice shot man.Don't need to know why, just that it does happen. I don't care if LEO asks for it or not. It can and does happen. Especially in Canada, so give the "good customer" routine a break.

You are paranoid man.
Unless the authorities are already on to you, then yes, they can get a warrant for your power consumption records. By then, your electric bill will be the least of your worries.
Electric bills are done by computer (similar to a cell phone contract bill), if you pay your bill on time and don't steal power, they've no reason to bother you.
If you are stealing the power, electric companies know if that there's a power leek, they send an employee to fix the problem, when they know it's leeking from your property they contact the athorities.
If what you were saying was the case, then all law enforcement agencies would be bombared with investigations. It's just not possible for authorities to act on only a persons electric consumption.

I'm not the one that asked the question so how paranoid could I be? BTW.... fear is the only thing keeping you alive so spare me the life-lesson.

I wouldn't be too woried, unless your in a small house, basic rule of thumb is an extra 1000 watts (give or take 500) per bedroom.
Unfortunatly we live in world where the patriot act is a permanent law. and It states that all bills, paperwork, and anything you ever did that has been recorded can be taken and used against you for no reason... but thats only for the feds, a 4,000 watt garden isn't on their top priority list.

Growing in your own home is dumb. Your asking for trouble. When the
cops issue you the warrant, you might as well kiss your house goodbye.
Rent a place out in the hood under someone elses name, and grow in the basement.

Spot on!
That's how organised criminals and commercial growers do it.

I don't want to get into the middle of a fight, but I live in canada and personally have a friend who was busted for accidentally leaving a water hose on for a long time (I never saw his system or knew he was growing until I heard his address on the radio talking about a 200 plant bust) and ran up his bill to $4000 in a short time, company alerted the cops they did a search and bam. And he is a good kid, has a job pays his bills and has never been in trouble with the law except for maybe a speeding ticket or so. But ya, so I don't think it's all paranoia....

This ain't a fight. I'm just trying to keep my fellow growers on point. ;-) Do with it what they may. Thanks for the input.

Uh Oh!! I used 55,000 gallons of water last month alone when my garden hose ran for two days straight after filling our fish pond and then the sprinkler system valve blew out a week later because it froze..I am also growing so I hope that the cops dont come to my house..I freaked out...cause the fish in the pond almost died...the local police could care less how much water or electricity you are using in your home. If ,and only if, they are after you, the last thing they will get a warrant for is your water or electric bills. They use other means of probable cause to obtain search warrants. There is not a judge on the planet that is going to sign a felony search warrant based on water and electric bills without other evidence or probable cause to enter the premise...take it for what it is worth...

Darkchild...what was he doing with 200 plants...I can only assume with that many plants he was not only using for personal growth...200 plants worth of pot has to go somewhere and if that is the case, even the trash man knew he was growing..so more than likely he was busted for more than a garden hose

this kid that was caught growing the 200 plants is one of these really really smart kids, who doesn't have much street sense. I don't know what the hell he was doing growing that much. He doesn't have any connections to move that kinda weight, and he doesn't smoke that much, less then me and he doesn't have many friends. He just got it in his head he wanted to do it and used his whole basement and it just got out of control, but he never told anyone about it, I didn't find out till I heard his address on the radio talking about the grow bust. He said he just accidentally ran up a 4000 water bill in a short amount of time, and bam, it all happened. He made it out ok, because he was just a dumb kid who didn't have any bad records or bad connections. I believe he mostly got off, lots of lawyer fees and shit, but I don't think he spent more then a few weeks in jail and he was on probation for a year, but thats it so far.

Dude depending on what ur going for I would go SoG. U can take a normal 10 x 12 bedroom. build out the boxes ( 4 each at 3 x 3 x 5' high) put 400 watt hps 's in them put the moms in the closet and use only 2000 watts max and that includes lights for moms and clones. ure not going to catch a case if u stay low profile and under this system u can pack any where from 9 - 36 plants per box. understand they will be flowering straight from clone so they aint gonna get big and will keep ur electrical consumption down. And Bjuice is right get a house in the hood rented as soon as u get a couple of crops off this move to the burbs and keep ur op there. wow now u have a full time job growing. Pics coming soon!! :)
