LIFEHACKS. Making life easier one hack at a time.

We've all have had our salad days, some more than others. Anyway, I thought about the little things that can make life easier without breaking the bank. I'm calling it - LifeHacks.

Like I used to fight with my shower curtain everyday. It just wouldn't slide on over easily. I'm short so this was a pain in the butt. Then I saw this shower curtain hook below. The darn thing slides like it was on softened butter. No more starting the day fighting that curtain. It's little things that can make a difference and they are usually cheap.

So the first LifeHack is the shower curtain hook that rolls. They do come with do-dads on them, this is just so you can see the rollers. They use these types in hospitals.

You'll think about this when you are fighting that shower curtain tomorrow.

Edit: cost about $10

Next time you lose your phone charger go to a hotel. Tell them that you think you left your charge in one of the rooms a little while ago. They will bring out a huge box of charges, it is one of the most left behind items, and pick threw them and get a free charger.

Need to cancel your reservation and you didn't do it within the time frame so you won't get your money back? Don't cancel that reservation, move it far enough out that it will fall within the range that you can cancel in a day or two for free.

Next time you need to clean your baseboards wipe them down with a fabric softener sheets. The fabric sheets repel hair and dust. You'll be glad you did that when you have to get ready for the holiday company you know you are going to get.

Edit: Women will understand this more than men.

This one is great. Are your stove burners looking pretty bad? Ammonia is your friend.

Place your burners in a large plastic ziplock bag.
Add a 1/4 cup of ammonia.

Don't try to have the burners sitting in the ammonia. It's the fumes that do the work. Put on a cookie sheet and let stand all night long. I put mine outside over night just incase there is a leak. Wipe off with a sponge.

Can you believe it? Our Wal*Marts stopped selling ammonia!
But ziploc bag plus spray oven cleaner (the real stuff with lye) works a treat. cn

Cheaper than the store bought and I think better.

Natural face mask:
nutmeg (anti-inflammatory),
cinnamon (anti-fungal, astringent, anti-viral),
honey (antiseptic)
and lemon (fades acne scars and age spots)

When you're making a recipe and it calls for "thinly sliced meat", you know how hard it is to get paper-thin slices. The fix? Cut the meat while it's a bit frozen.

A cheaper and superior face mask is your honey's buns. ;) cn

For those of us with only one oven this is for you. At the holidays or big events we need to cook more than one dish at a time. Cost about $10.

This is a great time saver. First clean the refrigerator, then lay sheets of clingfilm. When it is time to clean the frig again you just peel and replace. You might need to spot clean a few places but far easier than cleaning it like the old way. I use clear for a less busy look.
