well that was 5 years ago...
chances are minimum wage has gone up

If you said 1 to 2 years id be shocked but 5 years? im not remotely shocked,

you need to learn to learn to cut your spending,

to get back into a comfortable bank account setting.
- use coupons, depending where you live you may not be able to use a million coupons at once but i generally use coupons for random expensive things.
Coffee is usually my main one i think coffee is stupid pricey i dunno maybe its just me, anywho 3$ off coupon makes coffee 3$ woot

-Budget groceries on whats on sale . never buy anything off sale (unless seriously needed )
look at your local flyers and go through, plan your meals accordingly
so say you found 20 chicken breasts for 7.99$ , and oyu found a family pack of steaks for 5.99$
take those than add, a bag of potatoes which is like 2$, and some fresh vegetables (cheaper than you think) you could also buy a frozen vegetable medly.
get home take all chicken out of the package and reput it into ziplock bags according to your family size so if its just the two of you only put 2 chickens or 2 steaksinto ziplock bag and freeze to ensure they are sealed.

Buy BULK GRAINS, Quinoa, couscous, pasta , bulgar, these things stretch fucking far.
quinoa i highly suggest as its amazing in nutritional content. buy a shit ton 1 cup dry is like 4 cups cooked.
add some tomato cucumber salt pepper and lemon juice and you got yourself a quick lunch idea that is so packed in protein you will stay full

-reduce your footprint you dont need lysol wipes, paper towles, ect ect. - buy one or the other.
-make your own laundry detergent- you can find really eco friendly awesome recipes online a huge bucket costs maybe 5$ and lasts a very long time, and still cleans just as well as regular laundry detergents

-buy REAL shampoo and conditioner, i know this sounds odd but go to a real beauty supply place and buy real shampoo and conditioner not walmart brand, i know the inital investment seems steep , but 1l bottles will cost about 10$ , however you only need like 1 pump of shampoo and a dime size of conditioner out of real professional products rather than giant handfuls of the other stuff.

-garden in the summer, create your own veggie patch, much cheaper cuts your food bill on fresh fruit and veg

keep 1 envolope for "entertainment" if you and your fiance have date night , every payday put a little aside for date night or entertainment like going to a bar with friends, (depending on your age whatever) each pay put away 20 bucks or so eventually youll have money to do things or activities together and be creative do a movie night do dinner night whatever but only spend whatever is in that little entertainment fund
and last
dont buy frugal things. you dont need that 2$ coffee at dunkin donuts you dont need the sandwhich at mcdonalds pack your meals carry your coffee ina travel mug ect
keep any change in a change bin and
thats my helpful tips
wanna get married?;-)

min wage needs to go up but theres allot of people who probably need to spend the extra couple bucks to w/e is it your buying to last. the cheaper versions always such and you have to dig for it if you want it in life.diamond in the ruff

The shrinking of the middle class is definitely a problem. You don't have to be a pinko to understand that wealth is being distributed upwards.

The shrinking middle class is IMO the biggest threat to the long term future of Americans. As long as the bottom end of the middle class continues to believe they are actually upper middle class - with a shot at becoming super rich - the trend will continue. I'm amazed how many folks vote against their best interests, it's very much a US phenomenon.

^^^^^^^^^you don't get it
No I do get it but some people need to fucking learn you dont have to live like a king to be happy. I scrape by month to month payin bills I have 40$ till the 20th. Maybe if him and his wife lowered their damn standards a bit thatd help. If you spend money on stupid little shit thinking that you need it your probably wrong there are plenty of things that I could buy each paycheck but I know I dont need that I just want it. Im 20 have a 401k started and own a 99 jeep cherokee.I could go get a loan for a new car but do I need to no ...gotta say no to a lot of things and then u wont be so strapped on cash....if u have cable drop cable keep just internet thats what I do I cut all cost that I can dont spend money on stupid shit...gas,food, and bills main necessities

Well said.. it's hard for me to empathise with people who are struggling when they make five times the money I do.

Not trying to be dick now "but" You would not survive around here. You would not be able to afford a slum land ghetto apt here.1000 / 1500 for rent isn't uncommon for a house.750 a month is bare bones bottom for a cheap ass apt.10 bucks /hr ?.350,000 buys you a "decent" house.
How can you afford internet?Welfare pays 30/hr COL

There's a smart boy. I keep telling people, including Sunni, she is a catch! A rare find and beauty to match. Smart, generous, kind, hot, AND she's a gamer?

Yeah things are quite expensive. Lately I've been thinking a college education might not be worth the cost in time and money. But you can't say " America will end up socialist" or the like. That is just bonkers. It maddens me when i think about the people that actually lived in a socialist/communist regime and first world people here say they can't pay the electricity bill. Life is expensive because we like to drive our car alone to a place a couple of miles away, then have a cup of coffee served by trained workers. We like to eat off-season vegetables. We like to be able to extend the time we can store "food" in a frigid box; powered with borrowed electricity from resources running scarce. We have developed into a society spoiled with materialism. Hell even the poorest nations have materialistic values. Poor is somebody who can't afford the life he wants.
Poor is somebody who can't eat and lives under a bridge. We're just a bunch of ungrateful whiners.

No joke man. Take $1000k fortnight mortgage payments $900 electricity bills $500 water bills $400 gas bills $700 car insurance bills $1200 car insurance $800 monthly car payment $1000 house insurance $1500 house rates (just for living on the land) what a fkn joke this country has become. So after taking out the expenses plus food clothes and basic living expenses there is not a dollar left to save. No fancy vacations shit not even a vacation in a fkn tent.
How much is $1 Australian in US dollars. $100,000/yr in US is pretty good money. All your bills are about 2X US prices.
