You knew there was going to be at least one who turned the weed in. Politics is all about optics and some might worry about being in possession of a (still) illegal substance and what that might do to his/her image. Totally expected. 90 years of reefer madness propaganda will take time to reverse and end the fears of the un-informed. Besides, I've got cousins in Cobourg and they have no problem finding weed...the MP probably has his own stash.

Turning the weed in is one thing.
But considering that your party ran on the premise that you "would get working on legalizing right away" this just speaks volumes to what unfortunately it looks like we will see a lot of for the next four years.
I'm sure I don't know every aspect of the law but I'm pretty sure that cops are supposed to serve and protect. Clearly this would be neither. And trafficking from what I know is an exchange for goods or services this seems more like a donation.
A donation similar in nature to buying a politician a drink at a tax payer funded shin dig.
