It's that Ayn Rand objectivism rearing it's ugly head. The thought that if everyone were responsible for themselves and their own we'd all be better off. Crazy talk.

Conservatives give almost twice as much to charities as liberals, donate double the time, give 4 times the blood etc etc. If only liberals were as generous with their own as they were with others the world would be a better place.

But hey, standing on your soapbox demanding others to give is working well, why change anything?

little article from the NY times calling out liberal tightwads here

does that include giving money to sky daddy because they are dumbasses that have this fear of a red guy with a pitchfork?

i guarantee it does.

contrast it with those socialistic, atheist swedes: they give the most in the world of any nation per capita.

remind me how well that charity worked for kent snyder, please.

I don't see twice, I see about 30 percent more. We also don't know the percentages of which private organizations, I suspect that we might find that contributions to conservative causes might take up a percentage of this total, for instance, I don't consider contributions to organizations that pretend to "support tradtional families" as true charities but more political arms which actually help few if any.

But you seem to be stuck on giving, I am not. I am talking about ideology and the concept of community. I see often the notion that if someone elses rights are being abused, it is of no concern to those who see "me" as the only important entity in a society. "you take care of your rights, I will take care of mine" is the most common refrain of the "me" folk.
