Lets get dirty

you could just get a bag of the happy frog dry organic fertilizer for tomatoes and some castings

add maybe 1 cup dry organic fertilizer and 1/2 gallon compost/EWC per 5 gallon pot

or you could just plan to feed them the floranova "grow" during veg and use the soil again with no amending if you don't care about organic

Organic sounds like so much work! Lol. Is there any science behind it? I mean if stuff gets broken down to basic proteins and or elements is there really a difference in the end?

final weight on last harvest
averaged 1lb 11.6 oz per a 1000 watts

so it wasn't as light as I thought and the yield respectable...
last run I yielded slightly more but I also ran the lights at 1150 last run and the heat wouldn't allow for more than 1000 watts this time of year so that might be the difference partly

I cant really compare organic soil vs water soluble nutes in soil

ive not grown in soil using the nutes so its hard for me to say, but I can compare hydro to organic soil

at first some of the difference weren't as noticeable but after some time and some curing;

yields went up (per watt but require longer veg)
potency went up (slightly)
bag appeal (improved)
flavor/taste (notably improved)

and that's comparing 10+ years of hydro to 2 grows in soil

now having said that the differences are not drastic but still a difference

yes organic is more work

building the soil and amending the soil and brewing teas and hand watering all adds up and takes time

my hydro set up was fully automated with enough solution to last many many weeks, when it was set up I wouldn't touch it almost the entire grow

running drain to waste and using injectors I never had to adjust ph or refill a reservoir even

if I was using soluble fertilizer in soil with an auto feed irrigation the soil would be so much easier

I did my final dry weight today buds are spongy and rebound back when squeezed and steams snap 335gs off one plant and last 2 weeks she finished under the 430w hps ally better than I expected
ya man

I had 4 plant per 1000watt light (5x5 canopy) #20 pots and each got a long veg of 7 to 8 weeks and topped several times... I do dial the lights down after weeks seven also

I know you got a 1000watt hps but your canopy is a good bit smaller space you have and I don't think your veg is as long as mine

again
if I was using soluble fertilizer I could likely use a pot half that size (or so ive read)

getting rid of these 400 watt T5 fixtures was a huge call for me and I really didn't want to spend the money but,

these cob led lights seriously rock

I did a side by side for veg

it only took a week to see the led destroys the T5

even if I dial the LED down to 150 watts it still grows as fast as 400 watts of T5

and the LED grows more stout less stretchy, fan leaves and stems bigger and thicker

money well spent..

the germ rates weren't great but I got plenty so I don't mind

out of 10 maybe 6 or 7 sprouted

but I must admit

I used some cheap miricale grow seed starting soil cuz its all I had and its been sitting in the basement for years

if I used a better starting soil maybe it would have been different

Like the sounds of that satori x lemon Kush. If there's a few extra beans of those...
the og#18(res. prev) is actually one of the parents to the lemon kush (from DNA)

the satori are short fat big yielding hardy and vigorous plants with a sativa leaning buzz slightly up with a minty sweet smell and taste... you can see them in my other journal

I eventually want to cross it back to the orginal mothers like this

(satori f2 x lemon kush) x lemon kush
(satori f2 x lemon kush) x OGK #18

(satori f2 x OGK#18 ) x lemon kush
(satori f2 x OGK#18 )x OGK#18

between the two

the lemon has a larger yield and freakishly rock hard buds

so heres whats going on

i added the junction box and power cord to my cob fixtures which looks real nice and much easier to deal with... im considering adding a toggle switch to the box to power it on and off

theres some pics of the new sprouts from the recent crosses...looking healthy in the 6" pots
along with some rooted fresh clones i just put into soil that look a little rough but they'll bounce back

theres a few large plants in veg
1 querkle
2 lemon kush
1 dream lotus
1 og ush #18

those are basically moms i might end up throwing away or maybe put into flower not sure yet on timing, i got more plants in veg than i will ever use and will end up throwing some away
the growth under the cobs fucking rocks,,... the moms are clearly less strectchy with better node spacing under the cobs and the fan leaves double the size...really really happy with what @CobKits has done for me putting these light packages together

then i also have the pics of the lemon kush in flower at 4 weeks looking real nice
