Dude at this point in time that would definitely break the bank. What about a few of the cfls that say 200 wt equivalent. I think they use 43wt. Ive actually used tbem to flower small seed crop before and the buds were frosty. On a budget this grow.

Look for captainmorgans thread.

He did an amazing grow using only Cree 9.5w household bulbs

I have used various WW LED bulbs during flower t good effect

So you should be golden, but LEDs not cfls

XGS 190
Strain: still haven't named it but it's an indica dominant twisted sister/Jimi Hendrix mix(purple haze base)
10 weeks flowering and amazing product. Lower branches were smaller I plan on topping for an even canopy in the future.
Nice looking garden, sir.
What did you think of the XGS's performance?
I'm flowering with one right now, and am curious to hear your input on it, thanks.

Yeah i'm trying to stay away from the cfls. I only like to use them for clones and seedlings really. My led im using now seems pretty good but not a big enough foot print. Keeping it around 18-20" above the canopy for intensity improvement. Resin production is really in full gear. I just feel maybe bud density isn't up to par. Then again I may be getting impatient. Was really hoping to finish up around the 1st week of june.

They actually do pretty well I had a plant go herm on me from stress and it still came out really good. Actually the picture I posted were a herm. I suggest topping plants and cutting the bottom branches. my xgs is still running well and another plant I have under them is thriving.

hello. I am planning to buy leds to make my own panel.
I have a 4x4x6.5 tent '. How many need to take the entire space of the tent? Which are recommended? I have read that Osram and Cree have good relation price / performance, is there any particular model that is better than another? And where recommend buying?

thanks in advance

What do you think of this setup for a 4x4 tent (1,2mt2):

40 leds x 3w (100W Real). 4 modules per panel (3). Total: 300 Watts Real.

1 CREE XP-E White 6500 ° K

3 OSRAM OSLON SSL 80, 660 nm (hyper red)

OSLON SSL April 80, 630 nm (red)

1 OSLON SSL 80, 470 nm (blue)

1 OSLON SSL 80, 445 nm (deep blue)

Meanwell "LPV 100-24" Drivers.

Aluminum heat sink (80 x 10 x 1.8 cm) finned to dissipate heat well without a fan, thus they are totally silent.

What could improve for the Next panel that I built?

Impressive DIY! I would say, if the LEDs are mounted on a piece of wood, a metal heatsink would probably be an improvement for the next build. I'm not criticizing it though, as I have done no DIY myself.

Oh, I think it is an aluminum heatsink, reflecting the surrounding wood in the room. LOL at me.

Nice and clean design.

One driver powering 300w? Must be pretty high voltage? Did you ground the heatsink?

I just ask because when I read about high voltage electrical builds, one of the requirements for safety is a thoroughly grounded fixture.

I'm pretty familiar with heat and heatsink size lately. The heatsink must run really hot..60c plus with that ratio. Maybe you can tie strap/mount a fan on there so it can run cooler

Just a few ideas..not trying to be critical. Very nice light

Fellow weedlings,

Im hoping to start my 1st grow in Sept indoors (DWC-Grow tent 8ox80x180cm) with LED lighting. Can anyone explain simply what specifications to look at ... I hear for example 3w means 2w of actual light & others talk about calculating lumens etc. I would like to know how to determine (through manufacturer specs) the quality of the lights if its possible.

Cheers :)

If you're interested in seeing some larger scale LED grows, this is worth checking out.
They cover two LED grows, one at the beginning of the show, and the other one at the end of the show.
The first is using Lush Lighting and in the second it looks like their using some older Vipar Apollos.

Cool to see they are giving it a professional go at it. I think they might be the nova leds, they're the only company i seen with lights that big. Still not convinced on lush lighting no matter who backs them. Let me try a few lights for the bubble and ill show some unbiased results bongsmilie
