LED Thread regarding stalk weight difference between LED & HPS

That is different... You are running 6000 watts of LED?

If you and the trolls that seem to be jumping on my posts want to have a serious engineering discussion about lighting and yields I am all for that... From what I've seen so far, that isn't the case. I've been so interested in the topic I've bought three generations of LEDs and run them in flower. They are inferior to any HPS I've tried. If better specs made better yields everyone would be using LEDs. Specifications matter less than results... but, I guess if you only have specifications... Best of luck!
I have to agree. I did the same.
They're a dime in a dozen.
Cant beat hps for reliability. I also found my led's just don't have the PAR to penetration, the hps does. My 600, dimmed to 400 stomps my vipar900 in my 4x4.
Led manufacturers, really need to up their game. There is waaaaaay too much DIY going on.
Id bet money, my shitty "GROWLUSH" $30 would beat an old "BLACKDOG", or KIND LED, if i used one to compare. And look how much money they still cost! A new bulb costs me 30 bucks. Even replacing them 2 x a year its still a saving over time.
If you were growinb in a warehouse for profit, youd be absolutely MAD, to use led. Let alone taking all the time to make, or pay someone to DIY.
I hear you dude. I think you raise a valid point.

People choose sides and become fans. Doesn't matter if it's grow lights or politics. Pick a side and dig your heels in. Facts and logic be damned. It is so exhausting.
I regularly pulled 1 gpw off my outdated solar storm 440 blurple. I've seen countless grow journals with people pulling 2+ gpw with COB and QB. Doesn't matter. There will always be HID fans that bought a couple shitty Chinese LED lights, had poor results and then decide to completely ignore the wealth of amazing results people have gotten with LED. It's predictable and irritating. Maybe we should all go back to rotary phones and land lines because some angry guy bought a shitty cell phone and wants to tell us all that it's worthless tech.

Kind? Vipar? Who the hell is talking about overpriced, outdated panels? Go look at the results people are getting with Cree and Vero COBs and HLG quantum boards and come back to the discussion. What your saying is akin to buying a PlayStation 2 and bitching that the graphics suck compared to your gaming pc.

All of those lights are terrible they won't beat hps.....that doesn't mean other led won't beat hps just because you bought a shitty light doesn't mean they all suck.

No way. Really? Your 600 watt light dimmed to 400 watts "stomped" your entry level 400 watt LED???

Color me surprised. WTF are people thinking?

No. Not really.

I'm new to LED's, but I do know a little about light measurement and PPFD. I bought this Optic 2 lamp, which is a mixed Cree COB/5W blend. For 300 bucks, I absolutely love it. I think it's as good as a 400 watt HPS (or close PPFD wise), but this heat output is SO MUCH less than HID, I no longer have to vent outdoors. Really reduced my stress levels!

I suggest you read my post again. Im not slandering. I think they're the future. They're a dime in a huge pool of shit though, and until manufacturers start making lights as good, CONSISTENTLY, im not budging.
I also believe in a fair product review, and value the consumer, and the leds ive used are horrible.
My own experience is all i have. Same as everyone here.

No. He read it right. You referenced a bunch of bobo, outdated grow lights as if they were the current tech.

You used shitty lights. Of course you had shitty results.

To be fair you used Shitty lights to really compare.

Id still bet, if i did a side by side using a blackdog or kind, the hps would win. Let alone a better bulb.
Until all manufacturers start making leds as good as you guys are in DIY, and drop the price. The upfront, and long term costs are just too much and outweigh the reward.
Peace

Those lights are terrible why would you use them as your comparison? Of course those don't work well. You need to do some more research

Yeah. no shit. That was my point. Again, you are using outdated tech as your reference when it comes to LED

There are guys making plugn'play LEDs at a reasonable price point.
