Check this out. Its the newest led lights i've seen for 2009. There is a chart showing what there lights put out and what plants do with that light used. I saw a few charts on hightimes homepage that show mj plants using ~465nm of blue, ~660 nm of red and then you have far-red which according to that graph on there induces what we love most, flowering.

That light should be good for a small area grow like 3x3 or 4x4 ft max, clone light or a supplemental light but your environmental temps needs to be high enough or your growth will be stunted. People will trash LEDs but its because they haven't even tried the new advancements yet.

Nice, the only reviewer on that site got some big-ass buds only a month after the item was first released! And you get 9W for only HALF the price of the 90W UFOs!

Well, it looks pretty legit, obviously yields aren't the same, but it's clearly still in a experiment stage.

Any other of you guys tried this out?

I'm looking to get into the growing hobbie and am looking for a cost effective way, as light bills are pretty high as it is, I can't imagine what it would be like with a few 600W bulbs.

Has anyone else experimented with the led growing ?

Could you use LEDS in the same manner as xmas lights? Including the high power ones""?

I have recently started my first grow with an LED panel that I picked up from www.glow-panel.com.. I can keep you posted on how it turns out.

From all my research, I've found that, to effectively use LED's to grow, in both vegging/flowering, you need to broaden your light spectrum.

so, to maximize your outcome, you must put red/blue/orange/white LED's together.
But, use more of one LED for certain growth stages.
Example, during vegging, a plant uses more blue light than anything, so, have more blue LED's than any other, but, still incorporate the others in your lighting system, because the plant still needs them.
Also, during flowering, a plant uses more red light than anything, so, you have more red LED's than any other, but still incorporate the other colours, this gives the plant the full spectrum and maximizes the outcome.

As well as all this, your LED's must have the right specs, example, mcd(millicandela), light spectrum, brightness.
A good LED has around 10'000/15'000 MCD's, uses red/blue/orange/white LED's, has a viewing angle of 20 degrees+ and they must be super/ultra bright.
And for those who cannot find MCD's(millicandela's) on some LED specs, and can only find CD's(candela's), this will help you work out CD - MCD and vice versa: 1 millicandela = 0.001 candela's.
This is not solid information, only what I have picked up and researched, I may be right, I may be wrong, I can guarantee nothing, if anyone who is more clued up about LED's would like to expand/correct this, be my guest.

Also, I was wondering, to all those who are clued up about LED light's, if you could help me out, I can find blue/red/white/yellow LED's which have the right specs, but I can't seem to find any orange LED's which fit my requirements, I was wondering, do you think a yellow LED may suffice, in place of an orange LED?

DO NOT USE Ultraviolet (UV) light in your LED systems !!!

If you decieded to undertake the task of building your own LED lighting system so not use Ultraviolet (UV) light. It is harmful to your plants as well as yourself. Never use LEDs that claim to have a wavelength of 400nm or less due to the amount of UV light your emitting and. By the low 300s nanometers you will be killing off your plants, so i fyou plan on using blue light for vegging stay within the 415-450nm range.

I'm a noob. I'm still researching everything there is to know about growing these little plants. LEDs look attractive to me if they work, less heat, less IR signature, lower electrical bill = less problems

Do they work? Does anybody have more info to give in the past six months? Sorry for the thread ressurrection if that's a problem I've also been looking at the http://www.ledgrow.eu/ site and it appears to me he's having success with LEDs. I don't know his yields are subpar or excellent.

If people are really utilizing LEDs to a great extent and it's economical (investment wise, considering a new grower with a blank basement that isn't setup at all yet) please let me know.

I have 4 crops completed (8 plants each) with LED's, and have been very pleased with the results, they will provide a slightly smaller yield about 3 grams per crop, but the electricity savings from the lights and not needing cooling, offsets the yield, also the upfront costs of the lights scares people away. I produce for medical use for multiple patients and use 3 glow panel 45's for the veg and 4 90watt UFO's for the flower. I will never go back to HID and the heat.
