leds are kinda fun.[its not just about the herbage]
They are kinda fun. I get that can lead to a fun hobby by itself, and even to collective ignorance about plants. It's indirectly still all about the "herbage" for me.

I admit I felt a little warm and fuzzy inside when I noticed those osram ssl 120 modules. I was having doubts for weeks whether I should buy stars or mess with those tiny leds and a pcb myself (with the advantage of using a single optic), and then I noticed they did it already for me. Fun!

it was fun and a sociogical observation ...

nabout the osrams

its so good getting them pre assembled and sure has to make them more attarctive.......

been noticing the led clusters are getting higher lm/w and better pricing....

and generally follow links here

i have my nichia cobs, discount mean well drivers sourced from a post here, minsfa heat sinks[we will see], silver thermal goop

cob holders that do not need soldering, and aluminum angle iron

and hopefully will get assembling them when it starts getting cold out

still have and use hps for flowering herbage

hope to know more of how well it works for me..

I don't know man but I sure am liking the cloudy weather and definitely going to arduino a moon off feature

The Osram SSL 120 hyper red on star is in day trade again at https://www.led-tech.de/de/daytrade.html looks like that is regular thing and I will stop posting about it but today...

the module I posted a few posts back, with 6 ssl 120, 4 hyper red and two royal blue is in daytrade too. Normally €14.90, seen it as low as €11. 2 blue leds and 4 red leds, blue/red ratio in the spectrum is more like 45/55. Obviously not ideal on its own and high blue but by itself it combines well with general white cobs to turn them into a full cycle BWR horticulture led. Plus...

Just want to pick the brains of you keen led growers here again please!

My question is, Which is better out of these 2 different spectrums. Bear in mind I'll be running 3100k cmh + 4200k alongside any led purchase.

1st up, Budmaster cob-x

http://www.budmaster.co.uk/cob-x_absorption.png

Or the Budmaster High Pressure Sunlight

http://www.budmaster.co.uk/hps_absorption.png

Just to put you in the picture, the cob is meant for coverage and more of an all round spectrum.

The hps has to be kept at the top of the tent because of the lenses, the cob's can be 2ft away happily.

Right that sales speel... This is copied and pasted from the website.

''So what’s the difference between the COB and the HPS? The COB is targeted at people who want more coverage and the HPS is for more penetration, also the HPS has a superior red and infra-red peak in comparison to the COB.''

My own speel... lol The cob sure has a nice spectrum, but the other version is apparently new and improved. Are they just so different that maybe they are not upgrades, but entirely different products.

Thanks for the feedback and info Beefbisquit.

Yea my 2 clones are 10-12'' tall plus the height of the 2.5gal(12" tall by themselves) buckets I'll be using next. That Blackstar does look good though i was wondering if there are panels that can switch from blue to red so i don't have to but 2 different panels cuz I've only got about $170 to work with. If not I can definitely swing for a red and blue 15w i asked you about.

I don't mean to post all over your thread but I'm not finding good details in my searches.

For the size of the space you are using I think the 2.5 gallon pots are a waste...seems like you should be staying in dixi size cups
