Then buy the mini version?, lol...........the mega draws 650w and you won't be using ANY type of fan in that same grow room? even sealed runs need circulation, always

@puffenuff @NapalmD have experience with the smaller ones and can tell us if they ran hot?.........they drive the Samsung chips softer on the mega with the same cooling management.

stick FIVE osram zelions 3x2 passive cooled fixtures(625w) in a 4x4 and you will need some type of fan too:)

I ran two minis in a 2x4 and can confirm they do not run hot or even warm to the touch. Lukewarm is how I describe it. I don't think the guy in the video was saying you need to point a fan at the units. I interpreted it as him saying you need air circulation regardless and will get the added benefits he mentioned.

As a side note, I'll have my next next light journal up in week or so. Just vegging out some clones right now so nothing too interesting

designing a passive System means there is no airflow, than that created by the heat sink .
and a significant increase in lifetime with a bit airflow is no longer a passive System..

Another nextlight mega video......................the minis did some great work in here, nice spread out coverage is a big plus in my book.

calling all cob fixtures............where are the REAL#s at already????
It's funny the Next-Light came up in convo here today.
I just got off the phone w/ Doug, the owner of SunCloak. He told me he had recently built & will be selling 2 lights new light. He told me about this when I bought my Cloak 6-8 months ago. But not vertical systems. He made one for Veg @ 6k & one for flower @ 24k.
They are also low current diode style lights made for close growing, very light weight, & inexpensive. I think he said only $270. Big price decrease for SC. 2'x4' Dimensions.
I'll be testing out the 24K against another K-Temp of my choice. I'm thinking 3K seeing how he's already made one seperate for Veg.
Will the 24K bud better then the 3K, I wonder? I'm thinking the 3K will do better but he gets such great results w/ the 22-26K, (varies because of the silicone water-proofing) that I am currently using in the Vertical System, I'll have to provide some solid evidence if he's to change spectrums or offer the option.
He's got a huge commercial mktplace. I know, they all say that, but I've seen the pics.
For that price, I'd imagine they'll sell fast.

I used to like Smart Grow Tech but they're costly & I'm not a fan of their spectrum changes.

Yes, the thermal management of the unit looks like crap.
Have you been around a nextlight mega in person to know? literally the grower above your post mentioned they ran slightly warm(idk his ambient temps) from EXPERIENCE with the smaller version.............and then you call the similar thermal management crap, makes sense:roll:

Yes, by definition but not in a real life business model.......it will be "too heavy and cost toooooooooooo much" 650W led grow fixture that won't sell.

And now you're trolling old friend.............we all know what passive means, taking it too far. These will not be hung as a highbay in a hot steel mill, they will be used in a GROW ENVIRONMENT. You show me ONE experienced grower who doesn't have a fan in their room and I'll buy you a Heliospectra.

Illumitex, BML, Fluence, Spectrum king , Next light commercial series, even Hans noise free panel @ fucking 70watts recommend air circulation around the fixtures==== they know it's not an extra expense because every grower should have one.

Thank God I don't have a led business, seriously

The Nextlight mini was barely warm to the touch. I had a 4" pc fan below the screen running at about 12w and that's it inside the tent and a 20 dollar, 20w duct fan for exhaust. Never went 2 degrees above ambient under the light, if that. The mega is like four of the minis combined so I can't see it being much different in terms of cooling.
You always want air circulation inside your grow space. Who wants to sit in stale motionless air, whether human or plant.

We may all have our favorite lights and many will do well. New companies will find a way to be profitable or disappear. Well funded competition from abroad will be a constant and keep builders innovative in their development. I admire the hell out of people jumping into this field and providing great products. Changes come so fast. I am also greatful I am not in the led grow light business also!

I'd like to introduce my new and growing led company: GROWLAZER

here is my 400 watt light. Runs at a cool 60 watts total with super high efficiency and leading edge tech. Cheaper than Mars hydro but exact same LEDs.

This light with holder can be purchased for 4 easy installments of $19.99

Just look at the plants thrive under it.

Here at GROWLAZER we strive for the best performing diode personally inspected and tested by my lead tech.

Here you see one of my LEDs scoring a perfect 10 at 1000volts. Incredible

This company is worthy.

And I can't believe you don't have this one yet. Johnson just made a copy light that's not even close.
This is a real cob light! Blows away every cob light on the list!
