Pretty good list, i can think of todogrowled.es ( http://www.todogrowled.es/productos/tgl-cxa/ ), a spanish commercial DIY led. A friend of mine use them (he have got two of the 200w model and the third is on his way) and he's pretty happy about the result:

That's a rather easy design to copy:lol:
But their 220-309 euro panels don't seem expensive at all.

Best bin on those 3070s.
If you want to diy their most expensive panel
Buying these cobs yourself would prob cost 110 euros or so. 65 euros for the driver I think. 20 euro heatsink. 10 euro for the fan and driver maybe, 5 euros for the chain and screws and cob holders.
Then some extra cost like the power cord and labour cost. That's not a lot of money they earn with it.

Seems like a great deal tbh, a lot cheaper than the Heaven Bright led fixture and the Optic lighting Vero/Cree fixtures.
And it would blow out all the "blurple" led companies like Mars-hydro since it's similar in cost (maybe cheaper) yet much more powerful thanks to higher quality LEDs.

I do wonder how their blurple Cree lights compare with the full spectrum Cree cob though.

What are you guys pulling per 4x4 space with your LED's? I'm not a complete yield junkie, but I do need to produce.

I'm using cidley LED's now, which are pretty damn cheap, these companies using COB's are like 3x the price.

I'm wondering the benefits...

The benefits are a lower electrical bill, longer life span of light, and a bigger yield. Bud density will increase with COB's, as well.
Cheap Cidley LED's might help with grow environment concerns like heat, but other than that, they are a losing investment.

There is a reason that CREE (part of NASDAQ) has massively under performed the market for the past 2 years. It is down 65% (!!!) while NASDAQ is up 45%. Doesn't that tell you something? If you want to build you own COB lights with overpriced CREE components, go right ahead. However, either the cost of CREE components will drop considerably in the coming months, or other companies will take over the industry (it has started already).

"Cree used to have an advantage because its higher power LEDs allowed designers to build products with fewer LEDs and a lower cost bill of materials. Now, LED suppliers like Nichia and Epistar can sell their mid power products so cheap it doesn't make sense to use the high power Cree stuff anymore.

Cree has made great products and definitely moved the lighting market. With 100 year old sales channels and the onslaught of these cheaper LEDs I don't see how Cree can turn things around."

If i had the money I'd change all my Vero lights to Cree in a heartbeat

Damn, you beat me to it!

One of the largest marijuana cultivation installations in the world, located in Las Vegas, will be using LED lighting, it was announced on Thursday.

Heliospectra AB, maker of intelligent lighting technologies for plant research and greenhouse cultivation, and American Cannabis Company, Inc., a full-service cannabis industry consultant and provider of proprietary and preferred products, announced they have successfully sold one of the largest LED cultivation installations in the world to a Las Vegas cannabis licensee.

Phase I of this contract represents over $672,000 USD (5.7 million SEK) in revenue for Heliospectra's LX601C lamps and is to be installed during the fourth quarter of 2015. American Cannabis, Heliospectra and the operator have designed a cutting edge facility that they say will deliver high quality end product at lower cost, with a substantially lower carbon footprint, than the current HID or HPS lamps used in similar operations.

"Not only is this our largest deal to date, it is one of the largest indoor, horticultural LED installations in the world," said Staffan Hillberg, CEO of Heliospectra AB. "This operator represents the culmination of hard work – from our product engineering to American Cannabis's facility design.
