oops my comment ended up in your quote when i deleted the photo
yeah, I cant remember but 1200-1500 from the wall total room vs 3500 (I was running three 2/4x8 1/4x4) my old house was a lot smaller. I bet I could do like a 10k solutuion now. but, I work an off site in addition to my residental. so I keep my home stuff, just for my enjoyment.

its been a long road, I'm testing some COBs + one phantom right now: in place of 2 SK 400+'s the SK's(6 total 2700 and change watts) have gotten me very close to the HPS, good on all counts save weight, is still not there.

I think with 6 more cobs (16 total) and 1 more CMH, ill be there. it will be more pull watt wise then the SK's but less then the HPS.

I ran pretty much this same set up two years ago, there-abouts. 2x kind k3's and 2x suntec LEC @3100k in flower.
very stark deep purps, with dark orange pistils. vs the same mom: under HPS were bigger, but washed out more color wise
Well, I think you just answered the question I'd been pondering, which of my current clones to put under that one. The Black Hole (Purple Mayhem x South African?/Vietnamese? Land Race) will get to bathe in it's rays 8-) Here's what the Mayhem by Gooey looks like -

I plan on hanging on to that one, I really enjoyed the smoke on it, too!

both the hydrofarm and and sun systems are similar vert reflectors
I've heard of people discovering their ballasts aren't really square wave. I'd be absolutely certain of getting a square wave ballast for your 315W CMH lights, even if it costs more.

how would you test that? guess another reason to have an external ballast: but it has A lot of safety features. its strikes up, instantly. but if for some reason you need to turn it off, it takes 15 minutes or there about to restart.

You ask questions of the manufacturer.

no you! make one up if you have too.
Pursuant to this conversation, I was just nosing around at my local hydro shop. Reputable makers of 315W CMH lights include the words SQUARE WAVE ballast somewhere in their product description.

Not all manufacturers are reputable.

Woot woot! Is there a way you can get me in touch with them? Secret handshake, or an email perhaps?
It's a couple months out and the guys so busy installing the sunplix 315 in fair sized grows I barely even get a chance to talk to him. I'll let you know!

ugh.. loath having to go in my hydro store. I(we) have a long standing accord w/proprietors. but like all hydro stores they have a high turn over, why cant these stores keep employees?

Fars as my ballast being √ Ill just have to take their word for it. cause like you said, right in the quick start "square wave" eh..

Huh?

Its my fuckin money so believe me, I do my own homework!

there is only two ways to be sure.

1.do it yourself: a picture or video can be manipulated.

2.nuke them from orbit.

point is: at some point in the line your going to have to trust someone. just buy from good companies, proven products and with good return programs.
