Leaving On Vacation For 2 Weeks ** Plants Mid Flowering-- Help!!!

Ladies and gents,

Leaving on vacation for 14 days and I have 6 plants in mid week 5 of flower. By the time I leave they will be beginning week 7, so they should be finishing and ready for flush when I get back.

I have all 6 plants on a 4x4 grow tent and in 7 gallon smart pots. Which I water 2x per week with 2 gallons of water per pot.

I have over a week to get an automatic watering system setup and need some guidance.

Have you ever setup and ran an automatic watering system that would work in my situation?

If so, what would you recommend? I heard blu mats are pretty good.

Your input and advice is greatly appreciated!!! :)

The math says that 6 plants x 2 gallons twice a week = 48 gallons for your 'away time'.

Get a very large, elevated reservoir and hoses to the pots, 50 gallons+, get a digital timer running an on/off valve (available at plumbing/hardware store near you), load the res and see how long it takes to gravity feed 2 gallons to each pot, and set the timer accordingly.

Aside from that, and don't take this as an insult obviously, try to plan your vacation time around your grow schedule.

wick system would be what i would try to get figure out but you still still need something to re fill the wick rez if you are watering that much each week. I encourage you to look into SIPs in the future.... so easy and no moving parts to fail!

My SIPs have a 10 gallon res and I fill it 2-3 times a week.

Any automation is going to require:
1) Time
2) Money
3) someone to check on it to make sure your shit isn't flooded

I'd skip the bullshit and get someone I trust to help out.

Just my $0.02

I used them, 25 in the rafters now. good and bad, like everything else. but they dont leak, they do water for a long time
and grow trees very well.
they raise rh quickly, are damp and heavy. washing them out at change during winter is impossible for me.

Sounds like you could get away with either setting yourself up with some Blumats & distribution drippers or setting timers to pumps and watering x minutes per day. Set yourself up with a rez according to how much you intend to feed. I'd recommend setting your PH as low as you're able to as I'd suspect it to increase over time. Aerate your res. I've used a UV sterilizing light in my res before and it's prevented bad bacteria between extended rez changes. 2 cents. Good luck & let us know how you make out!
