Leaving California: Security Questions

Hi friends,

I know it seems contrary to most folks desires but after a seven years in the safe confines of California I'm heading to a non-legal state and had some security questions.

1. What do you guys do about internet security? VPN? Editing geo-tracking on photos? Should I not tell anyone online where I am going? Is emailing people safe? I don't do any social media, just using forums.

2. What about growing security? I have the standard info from the well known grow books but didn't know if there were specific safety books/websites/threads that people recommended. It seems like the best bet is just 100% do not tell a soul what you are doing. As tempting as it is to try to meet people, it opens up the possibility for trouble.

3. Job security? Are urine tests standard for most jobs? My brother, who moved to California recently seems concerned that all jobs will drug test. Sadly I use cannabis for medical purposes and an extended break isn't very feasible.

4. Travel security? My missus and I are probably taking cartridges and pens for easy stealth on the physical drive. We would like to send some good bud in a packed container. Is it safe to send stuff through U-hauls shipping?

i used to travel state to state for work(travel RN) so i'll answer your questions from my personal experience and perspective.

1- simply put, if you don't want the cops to know about it, don't put it on the internet. plastering bud pics on fb and twitter, not smart if you are trying to stay incognito. i'm not saying this from an ideological standpoint, you do have freedom of speech, but you are trying to stay off the radar. be smart.

as far as covering your internet tracks of you are ordering bud or grow supplies/seeds and you are wanting to be discreet as possible using https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en isn't a bad idea. however do not only use it for internet activity you are trying to hide. use it other times randomly as well. if you only use it for activity you are trying to hide, authorities can correlate that occasional use to the activity you are trying to be stealth about. maybe a little overboard/paranoid though, but safe is safe. prison blows.

2- the only people that get caught on the reg are those that have to tell other people about their grow op. don't let that land you in jail. you and you wife are the only ones that need to know, and you are protected from self-incrimination by your wife. get a lawyer and neither one of you say a damn thing until you talk to the lawyer if you are in custody or are questioned out of custody by the cops.

3- there is no job security. with most states being able to fire you for no reason at all, you are smoking at your own risk. 99% of jobs do pre-employment 10 panel drug screens. if you are working a job where they have a federal contract or high security, you'll get a follicle test. you can quit smoking for a month and but a walmart MJ test kit and see if you piss clean before you test. unfortunately, random screenings or screening if you have a work mishap or injury occur as well. good luck with that.

4- you have it right with travel security, pens. as far as packing it and sending, it's relatively safe, i've found the best way is put in in a mason jar then putting the jar in a vacuum sealer. smell is your enemy if you have to pass through toll gates or if you get pulled over. if you hit a road block and your shit is searched, not much is going to keep the bud from getting found. this is rare, but is possible. just not likely. don't speed and drive like an adult and that should mitigate 80% of the risk.

no problem. i've made the trip from seattle-NC and denver-NC many times with buds. makes your butthole pucker, but i've never had an issue.
