You can"t tell by the number of leaves.

The following image displays a male plant at about 10 days flowering.

The following image clearly displays a female plant at about 10 days flowering, using a 400w HPS. NOTE: Indica dominant strains will flower faster than Sativa varieties.

Yeah like mogies said you can't tell sex by the number of leaves. I think most plants have 9 or 11 leaves tho, the number of leaves increases as the plant gets older, starts as 1 leaf then 3 then 5,7,9,11.

actually ive just started growing from random seeds ive gathered, one seed in particular i got from an AMAZING bag of weed (only one seed) grew rather quickly and today i noticed it had 11 leaves, 9 going around normally but then 2 more sticking out awkwardly like they didnt know where to go, im praying its female, but even if it isnt i might keep it to breed.. i'll toss up a pic when i figure out how

My plant has just sprouted a set of 13 blades per leaf, Has anyone else ever heard of such a thing??? I know its an old thread.
