Ok brainiacs I have upgraded my grow area and I have got rid of all my hid lights. And will be going to cobs. All I have right now is one driver. Lpc-100-700. I will need more.and I know I will be cooling passive. Unless I can get a better build using cpu coolers. My question is this. I have $250 bucks to put into this light. What's the best options for a one light. Complete grow cycle.. veg/flower. Cree or vero??? I want to squeeze as much as I can for 250.. any help would be appreciated.

I would get a100w grow light kit and get a1050 driverclose to $250 a little more best money you can buy
More into the diy myself. I have did a couple 3 watt led builds. But would like to do cobs. I was thinking 4 Vero or Cree 3070's. I know I can do a Vero build for that. Not sure on the cree. And I want one spectrum for entire grow

ok,, here is my thoughts on the light.
6-140mm pin heat sink
3-Bridgelux VERO29 3000K 80 CRI D
3-bridgelux VERO29SE 5000K 70CRI poke-in
total cost $248.40

using 2 drivers. the one that i already have. the lpc-100-700
and a hlg-185-c1400b
each driver will run 3 cobs, and depending on veg or flower,
you could use either driver on either 3 cob string
example, all cobs running in veg. run the 3 5000k on the hlg-185-1400
full power. and the 3000k on the lpc 700ma, then by using wago connectors. simply switch driver places.
and have the 3000k on the hlg running at 1400m and the 5000k at 700ma
maybe a good all around veg flower light?
and im not adding frame cost, i have a ton of aluminum already

thoughts?

If you are going Vero, just get the 'C' 'SE' versions. Use 'B' or 'D' to fill out spare vf but they aren't as efficient as the Cs.

Since you got your driver already put all of your remaining funds into cobs. 250 should be able to land you 8-10 Vero 29c SEs. Use that aluminum laying around to heat sink the little heat when running them that low.

well if you are a diy guy, I have just the project GrowGreen 200w 1 channel - 3000k 90cri and 1 channel 5000k 80cri check out diy coop thread here list is filling quickly if you want to get in for some really nice boards https://www.rollitup.org/t/diy-4x12-3500k-5000k-lm561c-two-channel-board.944214/page-5

two boards is 400w enough to light up a 3x3 at $120 plus two 5.66x18 heatsinks $50 plus two HLG-185H-C1050B drivers $120 = under $300 for 400w for a diy coop fixture

Where did you get the COB/heatsink combo?

How much did it set you back besides the framework?

I just ordered some Vero SEs myself.
