Cpt Jacks first.
Put the galvanized nails in the soil. (Just push them in)
Water with the pH'ed water and the Ca/Mg when it time to water next...(pH after you add the Ca/Mg).
Out of curiosity what are the galvanised nails for? And do i get them from b and q or any hardware store?

You serious? You say youve 6 grows under your belt how do u know what defs u have? I could go into mobile, semimobile n immobile but im watching blade runner so do some reading bro.if youre passionate about growing n need to listen to your plants n stay away from the bro science like flushing n checking runoff ph n defoliation n stick with solid info thats irrefutable.ive been on this site over 8 yrs n when I started I researched for a fucking YR before I invested money n now I live n breath botony.check out noobs section but in my opinion with every answer u get ask for proof or research it yourself. Dr whos a cool cat that likes zappa nearly as much as I so if he says something its usually right n hes not a dick about hia knowledge. Heck ive learned alot just reading his random posts. But if u love the plant show it n research like an aids infested researcher

Its your environment causing problems, nutrients are secondary, the guy who spotted a thrip has some skills there
Unfortunately, I have quite a lot of experience with this plague: thrips. I almost developed better eyesight looking for them, lol. They will puncture your leaves and leave small trails of bug poop everywhere. When they reach adulthood, they will be able to fly and infect more plants in your grow room. I battled them for one year without being able to kill all of them. They kept coming back. And that's because they will go down in the soil to pupate, then go back up. I used everything available with no results, but (im not marketing them... trust me. Im just a regular grower.) the only thing that worked for me was misting my plants over/under the leaves with Greendel pyrethrum, then watering the soil with pyrethrum aswell to get all the bugs killed. Then I used some diatomaceous earth near the stem to prevent them from going up. This is the only thing that worked for me. My plants look green and healthy again.

Good info, i can add a ton more but just to say that indoors the best option is predator mites, they break the life cycle. Also use these when you have none to stop re in fection. In the UK i only get thrips from store bought soil, the rest is clean as a whistle as far as ive experienced.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for something 1mm long that kicked the fuck out of my grow room many times, i run a catch and release for these guys now :-)

PH all in-going to 6.5
The new growth showing the light edge's = locking out Zinc from high pH.
The pH issue will get worse and include other things down the road if you don't start corrections now.

Stick a cpl of galvanized nails in the soil and pH all in-going to 6.5
Use a Ca/Mg with Fe in it. 5 ml per gallon.

The soil is light on Ca and not buffering well.

Again. Cpt. Jacks dead bug for the thrips.
I was always told not to bother with ph when using soil, im taking it that is a load of bullshit?

No. As long as the soil used is properly amended with Ca, AND as long as your not using a solution that's way out of wack - one way or another. Synthetics make that "out of wack" a smaller range.. Allowing the soil to properly return to It's rest point is best (dry to needing a feed/water).

Your pH is too high and it's what's showing/expressing the zinc def. I suspect the soil has a "buffer" issue.

I see, do you think the buffer issue could be to di with watering too often then? As i said ive never had this problem before until i tried the new watering schedule and i poked my nails in gonna give em a thrip spray tomorrow and a 6.5 phd water aswell ill let you know how they get on, ill cal mag on the next feed
