That's a pretty good point. Ethnic people do have the right to govern themselves. However i dont think it will happen because of our " United Iraq" foreign policy.
No we have to fight it out and win by the gun. That is the policy in this world

Unified Iraq? Not since Bush has the Press spread that lie.

North Korea
Taiwan
Israel
USA
Waziristan
Palestine Authority

There is only one way
You keep what you kill, Riddick. :)

Riddixk great movies. The flaw with philosophy however is it encourages killing not permanent peace. Its like a boxer knocking out his opponent then waiting for him to recover and get back up just so you can keep knocking each other out for temporary safety.

No it simply acknowledges there is no such thing as permanent peace

That is a pipe dream, seems to me and I used to be a peacenik also

You have to realize there are many in this world that are against peace as we define it

And if there are any against peace then there is none

My mistake of youth was to blindly assume that everyone was after a peaceful world

But it turns out not very many really want that

It is not natural to forgive and forget
The USA doesn't practice that because no one else will either

Certainly not Jihad

So then why do we have any reservations using our military?

ISIS is clearly a murderer hiding behind the Quran, just like Catholics bombing abortion centers use the bible or Nazis hiding behind sudo-science.

They simply took a socially accepted and respected "truth" and twisted it to further their own agenda and interests.

I refuse to believe that peace is merely an abstract philosophical idea.

They way I see it is peace exists when people use legitimate arguments and reasons to back a decision. For example, the american revolutionary war.

Though two countries were at war, they were fighting over legitimate and concrete reasons. My Roman Catholic God has been taught to me as an abstract entity (Jesuit education).Since God is not concrete he,she,or it is abstract, working in ways humans cannot understand. Thus fighting over an entity we fundamentally cannot completely comprehend is a unjust and illegitimate reason to fight.

No justice is possible for all
There is no universal definition and your definition is Jesuit. Surely you can see you only come from one Teaching that is only said to be universal but is as made up as Hindu or Islam. Just a religion and as fucked up as any, clearly.

Ergo sum there can be no universal justice, Jesuit, and therefore there can be no universal Peace.

But it is the Francisans that are known for their better logic.

Why such a bleak out look on life?

Religions may have a different definition or interpretation of " peace" but that doesn't give them the right to impede or deny anybody of their pursuit of peace.

basically i can do what i do as long as it doesn't interfere negatively with what others do.

plus radical ideas are by nature ignorant because they aren't open to growth. Intellectually culturally or religiously. If one doesn't question their religious teachings they cannot develop their own understanding of a god particularly if god is personal like my catholic god.

Impossible, since Iraq isn't even really a country, its just several parts of former countries that the English and French decided to draw imaginary lines and then tell these people they were now all part of one certain country.

Isn't that pretty much the major issue over there? My land isn't your land? Something about god promising some acreage and shit, but seeing as god is all powerful he just figured why not let them fight over it? Cuz he loves them so much and all.

you're right and i was reading an article on bing news that said basically the reason why we go through the established Iraqi central government is so we don't seem to be supporting the division of Iraq since we spent billions of dollars gluing it together.

Iraq was the centre of the Ancient World you dumbass.

Ever heard of Mesopotamia?

Its called the "Cradle of Civilisation" for a reason.
I did say it was a collection of city states and occasionally it would be unified by one of them.

But that was thousands of years ago.

Since then it has been part of several Persian empires. Then Alexander got it. Then the Romans and Persians split it again.

Then the caliphate absorbed it and moved their capital there.

Then it was sacked by the Mongols.

Then the Ottoman Empire came along, and when it became the sick man of Europe the British just drew some lines on a map and we had Iraq.

Its not had self rule since the Persians conquered the Babylon.

Those are Old Testament times.

You forgot the Nile in Egypt, which is the only one that also has a claim to being the first civilization.

The banner flying overhead is irrelevant, the people living there don't just magically change.

We didnt glue it together, We tore it apart.
Hussein glues it together thru the threat of and use of violence. Which is what these sectarian idiots understand.
