Kief to BHO

So I have an overabundance of Kief and since I grown fond of shatter, I am wondering what the easiest way to go from kief to shatter.

I use Near Zero Impurities London butane and use a mason jar instead of a purge tube because I get more from the mason jar.

I am however, a bit Leary about mixing kief in directly with butane because the cannabis is already highly concentrated.

How do people do this normally without plant? Kinda freaks me out to soak an ounce of what is like 5 different strains.

What worries me most is the liquid not being able to go through the filter due to the crazy amount of moon-dust that will collect.

In a sense, with no-plant, this method seems ineffective.... but I'm still just a rookie making concentrates.

Seems like I collect around 4-5 grams of kief per ounce and oddly enough, whatever rest comes out of the plant lasts me a month.

I've only done QWISO. Did trim/corn/nug runs from last harvest and got some nice shatter. I also decided to run about 6mo worth of keif that was saved up. It was actually a mix of cold-press, hot-press, and loose keif.

It kinda didnt work out so well as the freezing iso did not "disolve" the shit like I thought it would. I think it would have been better if none of it was pressed. I use a vacuum assisted buchner funnel so getting it filtered wasn't that hard. However after cold evap(always cold evap) I ended up with waxy taffy.

On a side note, its been months and I still haven't tried any of my homemade concentrates, lol.

Pressing kief like that pretty much kills it. Sure it's easier to carry by pressing it but all you're doing is crunching all the crystals. It's better to have kief on its own than crunching it in my opinion.

I've done lots of QWISO but I find butane does a much better job at cleaning up the plants.

My main concern is the actual kief making its way into my stash.

I have to start making them because I live in fuck ass Canada and our politicians are dickheads.

My compassion club won't send cons at the end of the month.

Think I'll use my current method with 1 coffee filter to collect moon-dust.

Doesn't seem like anyone has an actual kief to shatter technique so I'll try it and post later if I remember lol

Only reason to use butane would be if you had plant material. Just kief you should use isopropyl or ethanol and thin film purge @115f

Thanks for the feedback. I actually just prefer to smoke keif loose. But happened to have some pressed so was fucking around.

I've actually been thinking, it wouldn't be as good as butane obviously but what if you ran h2o extraction on a bunch of keif, could be cool.
