Ketama [Moroccan Landrace] 1 plant ScrOG, 2x125w CFL, Flood & Drain

For those interested in landrace strains, this is a journal of my single Moroccan Ketama ScrOG grow.

I use two 125 watt CFL bulbs (6400k during veg, then I change them for two 2700k during bloom), and I built a flood & drain hydroponic feeding system for the plant, which I will ScrOG into a screen about 15 inches high.

Here are a couple taken of the plant at a few weeks from seed (Jan 5):

Then another couple taken about a week ago (Jan 14):

And finally some taken yesterday right before I swapped the two 6400k's out for two 2700k and dropped the light hours from 18 to 12:

I'm expecting first signs of sex in a week(ish) and harvest around the end of March.

Questions and comments welcome.

Peace

Thanks, peeps. It's a great strain, so I'm looking forward to it, too.

I'm expecting a fair amount of stretch over the next 2-3 weeks (another 12in, or thereabouts), so I'll upload more pics as things progress.

Quick update - a week into 12/12. Early onset of stretch, but I'm hoping for another 8-10 inches of growth before she settles down.

A little over two weeks of 12/12. Tops appearing, so she's on her way. She'll be stretching for another 10 days at least, so I'm expecting another 4-6 inches of growth (maybe more) before she settles down.

Thanks man. The only tricky part is deciding when to switch to 12/12 to get the most out of the space.

Approx 1 month into 12/12 (23 days since first sign of sex), so another month(ish) to go. Very little stretching now, so the buds should start swelling up over the next couple weeks.

the last pics in your first post.. how tall was your plant before you made the switch of 18 to 12.

i'm still depending on whether to keep mine in veg (been 3wks, 5 days from seed) or to make the switch to flower her.

17.5cm tall as of today.

looking nice, btw.

She couldn't have been more than 12 inches high when I flipped the switch.

It's really a judgement call. Try to imagine your plant three times bigger than it is today, and make sure you have the space to accommodate it. I've made the mistake of leaving it vegging too long hoping for more/bigger buds and a higher yield. Unfortunately, what usually resulted was a poorer yield because the plant outgrew the box and became unmanageable.

My advice to all new growers is to start flowering rather soon. It's important to learn how much a plant grows and stretches during flower. The next time you grow, if you feel you still had room in your box for a larger plant, postpone flipping the switch on your 2nd grow by 5 days.

Pics of your grow?
