Keeping it simple - Coco + Blumats

At their peak, my 9 plants were consuming 5 gallons a day. I use 2 air stones in my reservoir to keep it agitated and oxygenated.

No shit?!! What week can I expect that?

I threw 2 air stones in my resovoir.

I also passed on the nitrogen at this time, as I think I have more of an overwater problem right now.

IIRC, that was the 2nd half of veg and all of flowering except the last couple weeks. I didn't pay real close attention to when it started or how long it lasted. I just know it was a pain in the ass filling gallon jugs from my RO that only puts out about 2 gallons at a time.

can i run blumats with peat/perlite/lime?

i'm hydro grower who got root rot. in the process of cleaning up my hydro mess i got plants in peat/perlite now. gonna go ahead and flower some that way.

thanks

yeah, honestly the absolute best blumat use is in an organic super soil where you run no nutes through the system. i do a weekly flush and line massage on my lines just to make sure i dont get clogs. i added sm90 to my res and i think the oils in it are causing issues. im gonna make some organic super soil and set them up on the side. never tried organic

thanks, another quick question.

plants just went into 1 gallon fabric bags.

what final size to you recommend for flowering in a 4x4 tent with a 600 hps?

was gonna go 7 gallon, but will go smaller if i can.

Another vote for Jacks line and pure coco.... just gets no simpler... and great results.

I noticex another PPK guy on here, im new to it, just about one round into using it on one plant... if you are open minded check that concept out too. Not pitting it againt blumats at all, both appear to be very effective. But i sure like the PPK... i looked at both what tipped my decision was the damn near foolproof passive watering portion of ppk, and no dialing the carrots in... i may try blumats one of these days though well see... the two seem like distant cousins as methods...

not running coco, this was my original statement.

I see no reasons why not. The system seems intended for soil gardening around the house with planter boxes and all that stuff. It is not geared strictly to coco.

If your medium retains and releases moisture, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

ok, i've just read a lot of other stuff recommending 5-7 gallon for flowering.

i am currently in 1 gallon fabric bags and am just planning for my next transplant.

thanks

About a week into this now. I found two saucers over flowing this week, quick fixes made to the system. Now I know to make sure to check the bottoms of all the saucers everyday for any runoff at all.

Last week, I pretty much ‘set it and forgot it’, and wasn’t checking my pH daily. Yesterday I checked and had a pH of 7.04. Yikes. I do see what appears to be minor PH spots on leaves. My lesson from this is that I’m now going to check the pH of my reservoir daily. I need to. Yesterday I had my reservoir dialed in at 6.1. Today I checked and it was up to 6.5, so
I added pH down to get back to 6.1.

Minor tweaks now. The plants do seem be thriving as I have said before.

I’m using 3 gallon.

The carrot seems to be good for about a 1 foot radius of watering, which is perfect for a 3 gallon pot. Anything bigger, and you’d have to use additional carrots, or another add on dripper system they offer.

seems strange that your ph drifts in a non recirculating res. are you bubbling in there? could be causing dropout issues, thus changing the ph. i dont run bubblers but i do recirculate my res every hour so it gets aerated. my nutes are stable as hell. i dont even check anymore after mixing and it sits for a couple weeks in a 100 gal res

oh and ive been keeping my ph from 6-6.3 or else ive been having calmag uptake issues. not sure how people get by with lower ph in coco. causes me crazy issues

make sure you guys are doing heavy flushes with half strength nutes once in a while. i was having issues with really high runoff ppms but they still looked healthy for a long time. now my growth is crazy explosive
