Kauai Electric?

Sup guys, I scored some of these seeds last year from a friends brother who came from the islands and was looking to trade seeds. I gave up some Reserva Privada Purple Wreck and OG Kush S1's for about x5 Maui Wowie and x5 of these Kauai Electrics. Ive never heard of them have been searching the net but theres not much out there, all I found is it seems to be some old school strain from the 70's. Can anyone let me know what to expect? Or describe the weed so I can try and verify by description that they are indeed what he said they are? I grew out the Wowies and they were good so Im hoping I scored with some rare genetics since no ones is really breeding this anymore(at least in the lower 48 ). Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

kauai electric? probably myth. I lived in kauai and looked for that elusive strain myself. 2 story's pop up on kauai electric. first story is it's a strain that was grown indoors hence the name kauai electric. back in the day, mostly everything in hawaii was grown outdoors. so kauai electric was an strain exclusively grown indoors hence the electric in the name. 2nd story is it was grown near the powerline trails in kaui, hence the name kauai electric. either way, I've searched for that strain and what genetics it would consist of and came up with what I've posted, which is not much, from doing tons of research.

First of all, who gave you those seeds? Was it a local person from Kaua'i, who did they get it from? Dont need names...but did they get it from family, friends.....
Second.....i would try it, and try to breed it.....then send me some of those beans!:-)
Not sure if there is any one particular Kaua'i Electric...but i had some of those sativa's in the 90's from a heavy big local hawaiian/japanese family when i lived there.
Phenominal.....is all i can say about that or any original Kaua'i sativa!!!!
They are usually fast flowering...good yielding....very crystally....exotic tasting(tangy,saucy,fruity,buttery,hashy).....and soaring potency that makes you want to do something adventurous, and produces happy euphoria!!!!!
You can do very well indoors with these strains as well....as i have had just as good results indoors as in the hawaiian sun...so dont be reluctant!!!
Please preserve these genetics...if they are true....as they are extremely rare and way better than other strain nowadays.

thanks for the info guys, i have two germinating right now and ill start a grow journal for them soon. i haven't grown in a year and a half and gave most of my seeds away, i kept these because i didnt know what they were. hopefully ill get some good karma from giving those other seeds out and these turn out dank.

This is indeed an elusive strain. It became a overnight rarity on September 11, 1992 after Kaua'i took a direct hit from hurricane Iniki. Iniki was a category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of 145mph. The destruction to the island and the strain was devistating. Some of the growers who had managed to rescue some seeds tried to restart the strain, but Kaua'i's ifrastructure was wiped out. Kaua'i Electric is a strain well suited for indoor growing and most of it was grown that way - not many places to hide a garden on the Garden Island. In the aftermath of Iniki, most of the island had little or no electricity for months so many of the growers replanted with strains from the other islands (Maui Wowie, Kona Gold, Punch ...) that are more well suited to growing outdoors. And so, not much of the strain survives. I got my seeds from a grower who escaped to Maui on one the last flights off the island. When he returned, he learned that he had lost everything so he left the island heartbroken. I have grown Kaua'i Electric in Southern California for 20 years both indoor and outdoor. I've never had it tested, but the high is a long lasting, alert, cerebral buzz suggesting a strong sativa presence. It has a relatively long grow cycle outdoors, at least at this latitude. It can grow up to 10' and takes well to bending and staking and espaliers. Buds are large and quite stinky and sticky, but not dense. There is a tendancy to hermaphrodite especially with old seed stock -- clones easily though. It's great for a working buzz (even driving) but not so good for sleep.

I would suggest adding uvb light to the plant. Measured uvb not just guessing. Sativas will really benefit and the indicas I just did are stronger and longer in buzz.

I have had a little Hawaiian before and it is electric sativa or that is what I had. The trippy will come out with uvb.

Back in the 70's you had people calling buds Kauai, Puna, Kona, and anything else to make a buck. Like kush is thrown around today.

Did you ever grow out the Kauai Electric? Do you have any photos or smoke reports? I am fascinated with this strain though I've never seen it...

I grew mine out and finished it, one male one female. I was in the process of moving and seeded the female but the seeds never finished in time. I kept some pollen then crossed it to a violet og kush which I have a few hundred seeds of. I grew out 6-7 of that cross this year. The cross smells like guava when growing but that nice smell kind of goes away after curing and drying. I have pics of the male and the female it was crossed to but none of the kauai electric female. I'll post them up later.

It's a sativa that can be controlled for indoor growing but if left outside it can and will get big. 3-4 feet indoors 5-6 feet min outdoors. Big chunky buds of medium density and very heat and mold resistant when growing. The buzz is strong sativa style mind rush. Most of the time it's too much for me cause I have anxiety and it makes me paranoid but sometimes it does me just right.

I crossed the kauai x violet og back out to a fire og kush and just harvested about 20 beans. I also crossed it to a bubba kush/sfv og kush as well. Both these are untested so far.

sounds killer- would love to see her. eager for pics. did you save any pollen to maybe do a bx on the Kauai x violet ogs? maybe find a happy medium and take a little edge off but still keep that old school sativa....

Kauai Elecrtic is not a sativa.The seeds were found in kilos of black hash and was crossed to another indica called m-10 breed by Neville ...it was grown under power lines hence the name Kauai Electric.

the mom violet og, unknown lineage. this was floating around so. cali a year or two ago. i got it from a friend who owned a dispensary.





biggest og cross ive ever grown. was about 6.5 feet tall and had alot of colas.

Google coastal seeds Kauai Electric M10.He is on another forum you can look at the plants in the green house & hear what he has to say about it.He has some kill Puna Butter as well.Theyre old surfers from Hawaii...some are still there.

My uncle has a nursery on maui and has been looking all over for some kauai electrics, would you be willing to sell some seeds or know anywhere we can find some? I'm from kauai and finding kauai electrics has been a struggle since most of kauai strains are now being imported from cali. Let me know. Thanks.

Back in the '70's we got some "Electric Ganja" from Oahu, don't know about the genetics though. Also in the '70's Puna Buda was known to be about the best weed grown in Hawaii. Have no idea about its genetics neither, sorry.
